I have a Iron Vanguard Sent build GWF and was wondering if the Destroyer path is better overall now or what....

I heard prior to Mod 3 that Destroyer tree was able to have more dps output then the sent build, and have almost the same amount of defenses.. Is this still true?

So what do you all feel is the best overall Paragon path and tree build for GWF right now (pve and pvp)

Thanks

It really depends on your gearing and what playstyle you are after. I think for the most part the answer here is yes. Most GWFs are now Destroyer (though I would say there are 3 main variations here, specifically for PVP). The damage increase to Destroyer, and the damage decrease to Sent has really set these two apart, as they should be.

Sent has always had vastly more defenses than Destroyer. Sent has: 20% increased effectiveness of the Defense stat, 10% Deflect (technically 15% but you can easily get the 5% deflect even as Destroyer so I wont include it), and 5 AC (pretty huge).
So what do you all feel is the best overall Paragon path and tree build for GWF right now (pve and pvp)

For PVP I think Destroyer is winning out with current PVP gear. However this might change as people get full Black Ice gear maxed out. The class plays completely different now though, not just as Destroyer vs Sent, but as pre-Mod3 Destroyer vs post-Mod3 Destroyer. The 40% increased damage from fully stacked Destroyer's Purpose is just insanity. Couple that with 30% more IBS damage, and I have hit players at 40-50% health with IBS for 25-30k. I have had Takedown crits in the 20-25k region. The damage you do as Destroyer vs some players that are either outclassed or outgeared can have them dead before they pose any threat to your healthbar.

You do die much faster (obviously) and can be focused down fairly quick by decent players. Whereas I felt nearly unkillable in solo-qued PUGroup Domination matches, now if there is a decent HR and CW/TR on me, I am going to die but might be able to kill one before I do, if not properly controlled by them.

This is coming from a 16k PVorp/Bark GWF with 41k health, 19.5% PVP res, 2k ArP.

PS there are 3 main PVP Destroyer builds I have seen/tried, each one differentiated by the Class Power you use in conjunction with which paragon feat to buff it. There is Focused Destroyer/Destroyer (10.5% increased damage when 3/3 stacks, which stack quick), Battle Trample/Trample the Fallen (15% more damage when target is prone and 25% weapon damage as melee damage iirc), and Weapon Master (7.5% crit).

Everyone runs Bravery (10% Runspeed and 8% Deflection now, down from 15% Runspeed and 14% Deflect). So it is just a matter of 15% damage+weapon damage on prone targets, 10.5% damage on everything, or 7.5% crit. I went from the near-perma 10.5% damage, which along with the 40% damage from unstoppable stacks is just nuts.

Black ice gear is going to allow you to achieve pretty crazy defensive stats so there will be even less reason to go sent.

Don't get me wrong, sent is still amazing right now, and will continue to be so.

I ran PvP IV Destroyer prior to the patch with full profound destroyer gear and continue to do so for now (at least until I can sort out what BiS gear I am going to use).

I had *zero* problems with Destroyer in PvP, including taking apart Sent build GWF's. If anything, it's gotten phenomenally better. I've been as high as page 2 on the leader board recently, and I pretty much only get to do PuG pvp (which is terrible! grr!!)

Even without the patch changes, I've always thought that Sent build for PvP was tantamount to admitting you stink at PvP, so take that for what you will! :D

Do you happen to have link or pic or just a list of the feats used with mod3. Seen people talking about the new hotness but no one showing what it is.

    Thanks in advance

destroyer is better now for pvp and pve. It is a little bit more squish than sentinel, but the overall dps you get makes it a lot better.
Could of seen it since the last day of preview, and it got even better than it was in the preview in the first days.

Don't take the one that got nerfed or the ones that effect abilities you do not use...

Are Deep Gash and Student of the Sword still go-to feats?

If not, is Powerful Challenge any good when tied to Threatening Rush?
PSA: You don't need to grind Spinward Rise for your Elemental artifact main hand if you have some AD lying around. You can craft it via the Tyranny of Dragon's campaign screen.

The beautiful aspect of the recent changes introduced to GWFs is that we now have a variety of viable Destroyer Builds. So no, DG and SoTS are no longer "THE" go-to feats. Personally, I still have points in them but other people go without that and do really well.

As for Powerful Challenge - there's a guide up in this section which focused just on that. From my personal experience tho, I'd not really opt for it since I don't think that you'll be able to keep the mark up for too long. This gets more and more complicated with the amount of mobs you pull since there sure are other things to worry about. Also imo you'll have CA most of the time, esp. when running with CWs that have Nightmare('s ?) Wizardry and thus would benefit from the Instigator options more.
