The only thing I do not like is the steep cost to expand it. I feel it should be the same price as the Many Coins Bank Slots, which you get 16 for 600 Zen. The shared bank slots cost 700 for 8. I feel it should be 300 ZEN for 8 slots, or at most 350 Zen.
Basically the account bank is a good idea.
BUT:
* Totally out of the way. I don't want to ride 30s to the bank with every toon that wants to transfer/receive something. Mail is faster. Needs access from anywhere within PE, Sharandar central area, DR main camp, and now Caer-Konig. Basically you should be able to access the bank from all non-battle areas. Even better: from every trade NPC.
* Crafting items issue was mentioned already often
* The guild bank is still way more attractive, larger and way cheaper than the account bank. I can not follow the thinking of the persons in charge for designing this "upgrade to gaming". And then, there might be nothing to follow.
Almost a year ago I decided to start my own personal guild with the help of friends, now I have all 8 of my chars in that guild, and it's like having a huge account bank of my own. For Ad I can buy more repositories and get a lot more space than with the acct bank.
Just my 2 cents
If you run a guild just for your characters and alts, you do give up access to a guild community. So it's a bit of a trade off, but guilds don't seem to last long and quickly become ghost guilds anyway.
Except you can't use any of those items while they are in the shared slots, unlike in the normal bank, so it's basically no different than using mail.
So yeah, useless.
AT THE VERY LEAST, its 8 more bank slots.
Its free and that is hardly useless. Find a better adjective

So true, my first guild had 300+ people in it, now there are 2 active people in it.

Yeah, I'm so glad I don't have to mail myself anymore.. well for the most part. Some items that aren't bound I can't deposit in the bank which is weird, but I can mail them fine.
It already cut down on how much I'm spamming myself with mail.
As far as price, it's pretty common in other F2P MMOs for shared slots to cost more per slot than normal bags/bank upgrades. So they aren't really doing anything out of the ordinary in that regard.
I don't own many expensive items that I'd want to use the shared bank to exchange, but the most expensive ones that I own and am scared to use mail for are blue/purple profession assets. And I can't store them in the shared bank. Pretty disappointing...
40 slots is not sufficient really. Also the account bank is more expensive than the common workaround of an "account guild" bank.
One slot of the account bank is ~40k, one slot of guild bank is 14k on average. That's a solid third, and thus no competition. I agree with others. The account bank should be able to handle professions, ADs and Trade Bars, should be indefinitely expendable and cheaper as the guild bank.
I don't know how one should ever buy additional account bank slots as long as it's more expensive and has no advantage over a guild bank (other than that you don't have to "waste" guild membership)
Just an example: I currently have two account guild banks with four repositories each. I use one for my personal collection of event and other rare items and the other for refinement stuff / endgame equipment. I could never even remotely replace that with what the account bank offers.
I know guild banks are probably not supposed to be used as personal storage, but among personal and account bank and greater bags of holding, there is simply not enough room for all the stuff I'd like to collect/preserve for later use. Yeah, I could utilize an army of mules, but how inconvenient is that?
It's true more free slots (and slots to buy too) would be nice, but it's not like we lost anything when they introduced it.
Shared gold is the most useful thing about account bank for me personally.

Sheesh. Instead of reading silly complaints, I'll just go back to crafting many, many pairs of pants.
Is it a bug or what?
