Follow up on the retraining tokens for companions

The main point I meant to convey by my earlier post was that you quantify the revenue lost in the months following posting a release token on the zen market for 800 to 1000 zen. Then quantify the revenue loss from companion sales and compare it to the revenue from release tokens and the difference will tell you where your price needs to be set at for the release tokens.

If not that then I wanted to illustrate the point that they left us high and dry when the Active Bonus' came out. They should have allowed those companions purchased before the Patch the one time ability to release their tokens. Similar to they way that only characters who have reached the level that you choose your paragon path on are given the free respec tokens. At least they should offer those, to whom it applies, that courtesy.

Please explain how I have misconstrued the situation. I'm willing to bet someone with a Pheora will buy at least 3000 zen worth of release tokens to use the companion with multiple characters way before they would go through the trouble of seeking out 3 Pheoras to use with each. I would pay 800-1000 Zen for a release token. I don't think anyone would be upset because it costs more that the other tokens available. The revenue that would come in from the not for sale companions would be through the roof. Please schedule me a web conference with the higher ups and I bet I can sell it to them in 3 days. Not to mention that you almost rid yourself of all buyer regret. This adds value to not only your game, but your currency. People spend more when they know they can continue to spend in order to correct any purchasing errors they made. Above all other benefits you add value to your game. Which believe me, I design games myself and the most important asset you can design into your game is people's feeling that they are getting their money's worth. Believe it or not but this is the first economic red-herring I've ever seen! You can buy your way into a corner from witch their is no escape. A red herring is most commonly associated with level design. For instance allowing a player to drop down into a room that accidentally was never designed a way to exit so they must restart from their last safe and avoid that room at all costs. This is a cardinal sin in game design and that's exactly what they've set up with their companion binding issues and non-concern for companion purchases made before the active bonus patch. It's like saying "Hey, hope the companions you've bought before this patch randomly have the bonus you would want to use with the character account that purchased it. IF they would have given us a heads up and said "maybe hold off on binding the companions you purchase because they will have active bonuses eventually and will range from weak stat boosts or awesome extra effects that take place in battle and strengthen your character while weakening your opponent, depending on the companions currently active" But they didn't and feel as though they should be required to do one or the other. Right Mods?

The ability to unbind and transfer companions has be hashed, rehashed, and re-rehashed. The matter is now officially settled; it's not going to happen. Cryptic has already made a good-faith effort to placate players in your situation by dropping the price of Companions twice (!) since open beta.

As for the Phoera, it was available in the Nightmare lockbox (I know because I won one and enjoy it very much). However, every time there is a rerun of lockboxes there is a run on the Auction House for lockbox companions - and Nightmare lockbox is dropping again this week. So rather than a 1000z Zen market token, you can convert that 1000z into Astral Diamonds and buy another Phoera for your alt.

Also - the title of your thread indicates the discussion is about retraining (not unbinding or transferring) - which appears to be about upgrading, which is strictly an Astral Diamond cost in-game.

I already know I will never change you mind. I sm simply giving the facts as I know them and I do know them well because I was at the forefront of this argument when it was still hot and passionate. I have even had direct private communication with Cryptic on the subject. Suffice it to say I personally consider this matter closed and moot.

However, you and others are always welcomed to revisit the subject. I'm just saying you shouldn't hold your breath for any more change than what has already happened with regard to it.

bottom line is they gave us the shaft. I guess it's my fault for putting them on a pedestal thinking that they actually realize when they don't give the players a fair crack at what the game becomes as it evolves. To me active bonus = new paragon path. They should have treated the two in the same fashion by giving you a "choice reset" based on your acquisition, be it Points gained per LV. and spent prior to the new Paragon Path Patch or Companions purchased and bound prior to the Active Bonus patch.
