Hit or miss is determined when PC casts the spell -- if the spell animation has to "adjust" trajectory to "follow" the target it could very well appear to curve and/or "shoot through objects." There is no hack.

^This. Ive been called a hacker in pvp by someone who tried to stay hidden behind pillar, but kept peeking out to attack me, letting me start casting.
I hear "learn to play" all the time, but it seems to me that it should be defined as "my class is balanced, except when others beat it, then THAT class is OP"...

It does. AFTER power-up/aiming is complete when the spell/shot is actually cast and before the shot animation starts.
