lockbox

I've been playing the game sense open beta. I have maybe opened one lockbox. Are they worth opening? I've just never had much luck gambling. What are you thoughts? Which ones do you like if any and why?

    If a specific item you want to buy comes from a lockbox then just buy the item from the AH , lockboxes only really pay when you open large numbers of them ,open a few at a time and you will probably end up losing or just breaking even unless you are very lucky.

    Hi there :}

    here's my story -

    On my first try I got Phoera which I traded for, at the time, 8 keys and additional 240 gold.

    I've opened several more chests which led me to earn around 200 tarmalune bars and several "astral hunt" missions. I traded Tarmalune bars later on for a Coalescent ward. On regular PK runs (as a CW it's cat's meow) I quickly earned Vorpal shards and with that coalescent ward I got a Lesser vorpal enchantment which I used for quite some time before selling it for 615 gold and one key. With the gold I used to buy low and sell high, so I bought around 10 keys for 115 gold and was selling them at the 120-125 gold each.

    Now, people can be foxy, they might try to be like "A c'mon, it's just 5 gold, sell me a bit lower", however in the recent events I might even RAISE the price for keys for about 140 gold since I follow the ZEN market in correspondence to the AH. They keys are daily sold at a much higher price, the Coalescent wards are also going up so I'm expecting to see a slightly higher economy than before regarding that.

    Currently I think it's profitable to buy a lot of keys in order to open the chests of a new/next content which may follow. I've seen that people buy them constantly for gold since it's much easier to farm gold than AH.

    I also strongly believe that Neverwinter should release the 24k rough astral on a daily basis to somewhat more applicable values such as 50-60k Rough astral on a daily basis. That way, one Daily change of Rough astral will equal to one daily Enchanted key bought for Astral. In that fashion people just might buy more keys for real money because they could sell more on a daily basis. I think that's a swell idea, but I'm open to any counter-arguments in the fashion of a constructive discussion if needs be.

    They are not worth opening. Someone said it and I've confirmed based on my own trials that you lose an average of 8-15k per lockbox you open

    Personally I hate them due to low odds, high cost. If you open hundreds you can make about the same if you sell the contents, give or take unless you get lucky. If it's something that you want to gamble on, feel free to go for it. If you want to be wise, maybe not invest in them...
