Transmutable ring in "Guardian of Neverwinter" pack?

So I got the pack, since apparently I love spending my real money on virtual possessions.

One of the items in the pack is a Ring of Violet Luminescence (item #4 in the link). The website claims it's a free transmute item, which is great, but in game I can't do anything about it/with it.

Bug? Am I doing something wrong? Or is it a mistake?

Wear it. It has some pretty good stats.

Okay, maybe you're having difficulty equipping it, but that's what I do with all my freshly-minted characters is claim that pack (and others I have access to) and put-on (equip) the wearables, which include that ring. With all those fun Blue quality items who needs a double XP weekend? <justasking>. :)

Just double-click on it to equip it, or drag it into a ring slot. And when your character out levels the worth of those stats, toss it onto a companion. It's a pretty darned good ring.

As for the ring being a free transmute, that's great. But I have a had enough time just seeing my own characters' faces, not to mention others. If that (or any) ring actually appears on the character I'll be shocked. SHOCKED, I say! However, the advert states "This ring can be used for transmutation"; it does NOT say it's a free transmutation. Just thought I'd point that out.

Good stats? +51 max hit points and +13 power? Unless I'm missing something and they scale with leveling, those are pretty crappy stats :D Especially considering the fact that I'm a fully geared level 60 player and have been so for quite some time.
Is it meant as a pretty trinket for new players and nothing else?

Regarding the transmute- I wouldn't mind paying for it if I could. But my rings can't be transmuted, and as far as I can recall they never had the ability to do so.

I suspect the problem isnt the reward ring. But all the other rings in the game. It seems if the item is not one that visibly displays, it wont let you transmute it.

There was a time when this effected a large number of purple ranked neck and belt items. And it seems to have remained with the rings. I just checked a number of rings of various ranks and levels and not one of them had the transmute option available. So while the ring itself might be functioning fine, there seems to be nothing available to transmute it to.

I still see many rings listed as belts and belts listed as necklaces and necklaces listed as rings. Try transmuting the ring on a necklace, it'll look cooler.

You're missing something. Levels 5 through about 20-25 they're good stats. Which is exactly the intent. As for being a level 60 player, that's great, congratulations. But all the "bonus gear" is intended for shiny-new characters. :)

As for transmute, I would suspect it has to do with the original ring (the one you;re trying to change to look like the one that comes in the pack). HOWEVER, How about this: Transmute a cape or amulet into the ring? THAT would be awesome, wouldn't it? ;-)

edit: oh, I see others have made the same suggestion. Brilliant minds obviously think alike! ~cough~

Just to point out for those that don't have the ring in question: unlike most rings, this one actually does emit a visual effect. It glows purple and leaves a trail as you move. I have a hunch, it's as mentioned above that rings in general can't be transmuted which stands to reason given that this is the only ring that has a visual. I suspect it's a bug. I could be wrong, but I doubt very much that you can transmute a neck piece using this ring, any more than you can transmute any other unlike items. Like I said, this is mostly likely a bug.

Thanks for your replies. And shame. I suspect that I won't be able to transmute a belt/neck item into the ring, So I guess I'll just use it to hold up the one empty slot in my bank vault and hope the rings will eventually be transmutable.

I didn't mean my being 60 as a snotty "look at me I'm so powerful" comment, if that's what it what perceived as. Just a reason why the ring is no good for me :)

There's 2 issues involved with the ring.

    1. Rings cannot be transmuted. So the pack lies.
    2. The blue light effect on the ring is a equip effect, not specifically a "visual effect" of the ring (visual effect being how things look, like armor pieces).

The first issue is obvious. The second issue means that even if you could transmute it, the equip effect would not transmute over to the new ring, meaning the ring effect would not show regardless. You can test this on the Mote of Earth necklace from the Feywild pack. Transmuting it does not show the earth effect.

Oh my, I didn't take it that way. My congratulations is sincere. It doesn't matter if your first character or tenth alt that made it to level 60. It's still an achievement. :)

Just discard it when you don't need it. You can reclaim it at any time (on any character) via the Rewards Merchant in the PE. Same goes for all the stuff in the box. Never any reason to keep that stuff around if you're not using it.

Interesting, I didn't know that -- good information!
