First off, why is it when I dc in a solo instance I go back to the entrance upon relogging later? We're basically forced to sit through an entire quest no matter what's happening, or get sent back to the beginning. Why the hell can't you save our characters position in an instance?? Other games do it easily. It seems like a big hassle that can be easily fixed.

Second. Are we ever going to get controller support? Xpadder yes, but that's not support that's bare minimum making it work. I can set my abilities to go off and attacks. But browsing menus is painful. I can't use the d-pad to select items in inventory or equip stuff, and I can't use it to go through my crafting menu or power/feats menu. We were told there would be controller support back in beta.

I read about someone else talking about gamepad support on here. I agree this should be added to the game since it is more ergonomic to hold a PS3 or XBox controller over that of keyboard and mouse. Using Xpadder and other 3rd party software would not be wise. About the disconnect, I don't understand it either. It would seem to send me back to PE and when I restart the task at hand I appear at the last campfire check point. I seldom disconnect but I don't know of other MMO that saves your position in a dungeon or a mission. Maybe you could site an example?

At least they should let us return to last campfire. Yesterday had 30min before maintenance to do instance. From past experience I thought I could pull it off and went to the Edge of Underdark after Drow Prince or what ever. Took me over 15min to reach the second campfire and decided to log out at that point. Well after maintenance I was outside instance.
Like someone said it is PC game so you'd expect that they could save your progress and location.

oh it can be done. it's just not efficient for the server to do so. No MMO publisher will spare the hardware to do it. Any idea how many instances the game needs to save? We're talking 1000s of instances being saved every single second just in case one of the 1000s of players DCs. Do you have any idea what that does to a server's performance? Much easier to return people to the last/closest ulocked campfire on the open map.
I was just wondering other games that return you to where you logged off or have instances that remain cleared.

It will save an instance for you for around 10 minutes before releasing you back to the start. People who have tried to solo normal Spell and couldn't finish have had to wait it out like that to get out as you can't go back. Even if it did save it longer than that, most likely the server maintenance would have wiped out your progress anyway as it resets everything.

Swtor instanced everything and saved your progress during the instances. WoW saves instances for entire raids. It's not that much extra resources. It just has to save which encounters you've passed and an x,y coordination. It's not like it's saving pictures or videos or extra files. It's literally saving text. A bit of extra code would do the trick. It's already saving your x,y coords in PE since you return from where you last saved. You never log into PE and start at an entry. The campsites are already saved, or else the game wouldn't know where to return you to. Infact, someone mentioned that it saves for around 10 minutes. Ergo, it already saves. It just deletes the save after ten minutes. Where instead it could delete the save after instance exit or quest completion.

Thank you. Exactly this please :)
But make it so that not wipe the instance when you exit if you still have goals there.
