Hi i'd like to understand how exactly armor penetration, mitigation and defense reduction work, and in which order, ill make an example:
i have 1980 penetration so i have 20% resist ignored
my target has 2466 defense so 30% mitigation
My gear is the High Vizier full set
( Your control powers steal 450 Defense from your target, increasing your Defense by that amount)
weapon enchant Greater Plague fire
(+7.5% Fire damage. Burn for 2.5% damage per second for 3s and reduce def by 15%, can be stacked 3 times.)
im thaumaturge with assailing force and elemental empowerment
- with 20% resist ignored (armor penetration) my target mitigation is 10% right? so his defense points are now 411 or not?
https://www.desmos.com/calculator/3dqpvhuavj
- if not , putting 3 stacks of the plague fire on target drops his defense points to 1356.3? or his mitigation to -45%? the plague fire description says " reduce def by 15%, can be stacked 3 times", so i suppose that mean "reduce his defense points by 15%" not his mitigation
- another thing i cant understand is what elemental empowerment feat(cw thaumaturge feat) does, description says "weaken a target's defense by 10% for 3 seconds" so 2466-10%=2219.4 points on defense or 30%-10%=20% mitigation?
- bronzewood enchantment ---> "While marked, your at will and encounter powers ignore -16% of the target's armor" what that "armor" exactly means? how that effects mitigation, defense, etc?
- last question, if the target defense are at 0 so 0% mitigation without using the plague fire stacks, what happens if i put 3 stacks of the plague fire on enemy? nothing?
ive searched on forum, gamepedia but cant find anything that explains how

Plaguefire stacks with everything other than another player using Plaguefire.
Plaguefire will always increase your damage on a target regardless of other factors. That was what I meant by 'stacks' - it is an additional damage multiplier that works with everything else apart from another player using Plaguefire.
maybe you mistake the plague fire for something else...because the plague fire does fire damage, burn and "reduce defense by 15%!!" , stacks up to 3 times, so its not a damage multiplier....its a defense reducer........so what if enemy defenses are at 0?............
Then Plagurefire takes them into 'negative' defense.
While I am not sure of the exact details (doubtless someone will post them or a link), the end result is that by using Plaguefire you will always have a damage increase except, as previously stated, when someone else is using a Plaguefire on the target as well.
This is exactly how it works despite what all the various tool tips say.
