What if it's still in the mail and not bound yet?

It should stay unbound here's what Panderus said:

Items become bound upon moving the item inside your usable inventory. Unbound items in the mail or auction house will not become bound until moved into the inventory. Yes, any still unbound items should remain unbound.

You should be able to transfer a character onto the preview shard with an item in the mail to test that portion if you wanted to. I do not believe items in the AH are transferred.

Devs are aware of this and will take a look. I don't have any updates on this at the moment.

Is there any change that gear, that could not have been equipped (e.g. T2 PvP GF gear on a CW) that has become bound due to the bug, is "turned back" into unbound?
Or can I only salvage these items?

I would not mind waiting a week or two, it just the uncertainty (and hope) that is eating my nerves!

    *edit*
I just would hate it if I salvage my 2 items (potential 500k AD) into 12k rAD, just to find out next week that you actually managed to meet the player base and did something positive like unbinding these illegally bound items.

Is it naive to hope or wait for an answer from a developer or community manager to my question?

The people who got in touch with support about this were just told that items that became bound cannot be unbound and they won't replace them , if you want a official reply you probably should either PM Panderus or cmpinpointerror or contact support , personally I would pm Panderus or cmpinpointerror to ask for a answer.
