What is the purpose of this event? All I EVER get is shimmerweave scraps, mithral ore and exotic pelt. And then if I open too many I get a completely useless item and it has cost me 1.5 silver. Is it that hard to determine between bots and a real player? How about the chance of getting somethign useful like a arcane shard, mark of potency, dragon egg maybe?
This is just wasting 30 minutes in the events slots that could be used for soemthing more beneficial to players. Extend DD event for 30 minutes or something rather than filling it will this useless event, or actually give us the chance of getting a decent profession item. I have done this 100's of times and never had anything that I don't get outside of the profession event.
It's funny, I was thinking the same thing. They should add a chance for assets or something. As it currently stands, they might as well remove the slot and extend DD by 30 minutes.

Under no circumstances should the Professions event be scrapped. Apparently some players don't know the usefulness of the auction house for raising extra AD...and apparently some players are so violently opposed to PvE content that they don't ever travel out into the various adventure zones. The Professions event, a measly half-hour twice a day, grants extra rewards to people who play the ENTIRE game, and not just certain parts.
The last time I did this event I remembered the Skill Kits stopped dropping any Assets or Resources and only bounty items like Bag of Holes after collecting a certain number of times, think it's bugged or something.
I have never participated in this event. Seems like filler material and I won't miss it or even know it's gone. But, I hope it gets replaced by something better, like more DD hours. Or better yet, just get rid of DD hours and let us buy keys.

Its not bugged, there is a limiter mechanic in place to prevent over farming. If you hit too many nodes in a certain time frame. The game simply locks you out from getting anything useful and starts giving you junk. At that point, all you can do is to stop opening nodes until your penalty times out.

Wow,so you mean Cryptic designed their content in such a manner that you absolutely need to farm the HAMSTER out of things in order to get anywhere if you don't want to spend money, then they LIMIT how much can actually BE farmed? Ballz of steel. This is yet another botched "solution" the devs have implemented, IMHO. Limiting players (especially paying ones) is never a good thing.
As a new player please leave this event as I also like to farm mats from time to time. Don't give in to the "its not an event I like " get rid of it" people.

Yep. Same reason they changed coal ward drops. They're trying to limit botters and their stranglehold over the auction house. Unfortunately drop percentages on good items are now so low only botters can reasonably acquire them. Since supply is so low compared to demand, botters get to charge extra. It's not hurting them in the slightest degree. Only legit players get hosed. Look at coal ward and dragon egg prices.
Osama Bin Laden is awesome...you guys that think he's worthless just don't know how good he is. That is all there is to say about that

Ive never gotten anything of use the times I participated, so I stopped trying.
However, its not long and they do not have many, in all reality, they should HALF the GG event time, that is the most boring PVE Ive done in any MMO Ive ever played, including regrinds ect.. you spend 5 mins getting a few turn ins, turn them in and wait for a share.. or lo and behold you could spend 2 hours doing that and get the same thing, but help people who maybe going into PVP mode match that refuse to include you anyways =P...
You shouldn't have to do it more then once to just run both dungeons, so the people who are there are actually only the ones who want to win the events, otherwise, the rest of us just want to run a couple of dungeons.

This^.
These clowns are only hurting legit players with his ways to limit botters.
Example: I have 5 chars that I invoke every day and do professions. Got 43 Wondrous Augmentation boxes before the news one where put in place. Read that the drop rate was nerfed, waited until I got 45 new boxes (9 weeks of invocation) and opened all of them.
Result:
43 old boxes = 7 Coal, 13 wards and tons of rank 4;
45 new boxes = 1 Coal, 6 wards, 12 Peridots, 2 Aquamarine, and some rank 4.
They are turning the game more and more grind, what benefits exactly the botters.

It isn't worthless at all. Why even consider dropping something that the majority loves just because you can't see the use in it. I'm pretty sure the hundreds of thousands out-weigh the handful on this one. As far as drops go, I have spent redonko amounts on keys and gotten junk drops every single time, I would never presume to suggest removing the lockboxes...even though the wins on that are handfuls to hundreds =_= PWE. . .You listening. . . I practically own stock in the company at this point. . .

I really doubt the majority care about the event. A lot of people completely ignore nodes as it is, let alone wait for the event.

What exactly are you getting out of the nodes during the professions event that you think it's worth keeping?
The junk I get, I can get in much larger quantities out of the chest of goods from leadership.
I have never gotten assets, dragon eggs, etc. out of them.
dragon eggs are epic and very rare, so when i loot skill nodes, i'm not expecting to see any purple in there. i'm pleased to find blue items in my skill nodes.
as for the limits put on skill node looting, it just means that you're too efficient in looting skill nodes. i used to farm skill nodes specifically in certain zones but i stopped doing that after feywild dropped. monsters were dropping more r3 & r4 enchants and i would just loot skill nodes in the daily quest areas. i stopped getting junk in my skill nodes after that.

In what logic is being too efficient at something does not return the best result?
Its a very good ' event ' for players leveling a toon . Much easier to get the materials you need to craft something during the event . Just because you don't use it at level 60 , doesn't mean it isn't a good event . Of course if you are an auction house manipulator , you want the event removed to stop people from easily getting the low level blues they need for crafting .

That's just a horrible way of saying it was implemented because of farmers/bots...

I am sitting on 3 dragon eggs. I know the drops happen. It is a numbers game and when you are searching for something is so rare it's almost a negative percentage (i know its not possible, shush) it only stands to reason that you will only find a few in the lifetime of your gameplay. I have been here since beta and 4 in total from countless nodes. I find more in lockbox preffession packs than I ever found off of nodes. I still haven't had a mount or anything decent fall from a lockbox. Them's the breaks yo
if you're too efficient, you could be a machine and not a live player. hence the limitations.
I see, so reaching machine level efficiency hinders one return, hum this is not very rewarding and I understand why some would want it to be remove. Kinda of like the Rough AD Refinement limitation. Good thing they don't apply this to Dungeons Delves, PVP, Skirmishes, etc.
personally, I think they should make professions far more useful so that this event has more meaning to everyone. As it stand most players don't bother to level any professions other then leader ship. And to tell you the truth, there is very little reason to do so. Even if you get to level 20 you cant make anything really useful unless you invest a lot of ADs to get the epic items needed to make T3 quality stuff.
Not to mention everyone hits max level so fast that even if you wanted to make useful items you cant because by the time you can make that item you've most likely out leveled it, not to mention the fact that you often find dropped gear that's just as good if not better then what you can make. As far as I can tell the only useful reason to max level a profession is to make gemmed pants and shirt and reinforced bracers. But like I said first you need the epic items.......or you just do what everyone else does and live without he reinforced bracers an then buy the gemmed pants and shirts from player who've already invested heavily in their professions.

...That has to be the most backwards thought process I've ever seen. Let's make an event where your goal is to farm nodes. Then let's limit the amount of said nodes that you can farm. Because clearly if you're good at something you must be a bot!
