As the thread title suggests, I'm trying to see if anyone has experimented with a Destroyer build without using the full Avatar of War set. Of all of the T2 armor sets, in my opinion, it has one of, if not the best 4 set bonuses of any of the armors in the game, including ones for other classes. However, with the release of the new Dread Legion armor, I am wondering if it is even worth farming VT for anything more than the Dread Legion Weapon set and the materials for the Fallen Dragon set.
Has anyone tried using 2/2 Avatar and 2/2 Dread Legion, or even just 4/4 Dread Legion to see how it compares?
Hola there, Avatar of War 4/4 is definitely the most viable option for PvE due to the set bonus you mentioned, Dread Legion's 4/4 set bonus, on the other hand, gives you a chance upon DPS-ing, to gain a high movement speed buff for a short duration and a minor damage bonus afterwards, which is not really effective.
2/2 Avatar of War and 2/2 Dread Legion will probably not be better than 4/4 Avatar of Wars since Critical hits Diminishing Returns when high.
But hybrid armors definitely work better for PvP, in my opinion.

AoW effectively gives you another 2k to your gear score in two pretty important stats, so I don't see anything overturning that any time soon. Plus, it's just so easy to keep Onslaught up nonstop. More AP, faster cooldowns, harder hits, there really isn't much not to love. Plus the stat distribution is just about perfect. Just slot ARP gems up to ~1600 and the rest power with a dash of lifesteal and you're gtg.

The only few reasons I'd see someone run a 2/2 for any class is if he's using a number-based build where he absolutely needs the specific +450 type of stat he'd get from running a 2/2, or if his build cannot benefit from the from the current existing 4 piece set effects of his class's respective epic sets. Avatar of War's set effect, in my opinion, is just too good to pass on for a 2/2 combo like most people here have already mentioned. But as Blitz said, however, for PVP maybe having a 2/2 might be better for circumstances where you need to stack more HP (Valiant + Titan) or stats without Diminishing Returns like Power (Something AoW can coincidentally give you more of), but not for stats with early Diminishing Returns like Crit. +450 crit will not change much.
The classes so far that could benefit from a 2/2 combo are only HR's and GF's. They have really badly designed sets, and stacking +450 more Power from running a 2/2 may prove to be more effective than going for unreliable set bonuses. AoW's 4pc is really easy to maintain and the benefits are competitive, so there's no reason to forgo such utility for a 2/2 that only grants 450 to a specific stat.
