GF or GWF for tanky fun?

So for T1, possibly T2 in the future, with average players who are not fully geared and doing speed runs, which is the best/most fun class to tank on? Usually I'll be playing with a casual guild, large mix of classes and experience levels.

I've been looking at the GWF sent build, and the GF iron maiden one. I have a level 35 GF and GWF now, trying to decide which one to stick with.

Opinions?

GF's can pull aggro easier with ranged marks when you need to kite things such as in FH. GWF's do damage, can take damage, self heal, and can kite. Unless you want to be a prone bot for pvp I honestly don't see a reason to ever play a GF, sub standard damage dealing and damage mitigation abilities.

GFs are better at selfhealing than GWFs so not really a + to the gwf category.

GFs have easier on demand ranged aggro generation abilities and innate +threat thus are easier to hold aggro at low gs than gwf.

GWF has greater mitigation abilities but it is much streakier especially at lower gear as it relies on unstoppable putting you at hard cap for mitigation, before that equally geared you have the same or less mitigation and rely on deflect and deeper hp pool. Once you get to the point that mobs can't kill you before dealing enough damage to give you unstoppable, then mobs can no longer kill you.

The GF mechanic for dealing with streaky damage is block and it works kinda sorta basically in reverse. Guard meter blocks pretty much the same number of hits at low gs as it does at high gs, a bunch of smaller hits eats it faster than using it to block 1 major hit from tougher mobs. Thus the higher your gear and your base mitigation the less effective block becomes to your total mitigation ability, and you rely more and more on your high mitigation, but due to diminishing returns you gain less and less for stacking beyond soft caps.

As far as which is more fun it really depends on what you enjoy. the GWF is far more fluid and with the right gear, effective, and those 2 things equal fun to me. but at low gear a GF is going to be more effective even if mechanically/control wise they are not as fun to play.

I'm a GF, i have done like near all the content of the game and ...
... i have to agree what they said previously, exepting GF regen better than GWF : of course GWF got a better regen because of more dammages and more lifesteal and better gear (one of the best tank set is ... a GWF set)

But GF need love : join us please, let GWF for guys enjoying rolling head on keyboard

GWF owns, period

You need to realize there is no real tank in this game, and even there is one it goes to gwf. Threat control is useless when you have good cws and dcs.

Pains me to admit it but gwf is atm the best choice.... Tab really do something for you in the game as a gwf... Not really as a gf... Gwf hit 37-40-43k hp so easy....great -to- op dps comparable to cw....cant move a lottt faster the gf.. Hell even than most classes...can tank 3 players in pvp(more if youre good and geared)...your weapon hits for 1000 damage while gf only around 670... I can keep going on... And on... And on.... So yeah do yourself a favor and go gwf...
