Binds on pickup- what's up with that?

Forgive me in advance if this topic came up a few (or many) times before, but I'm kind of frustrated and need to vent/get answers.

I recently spent about 6k AD on purple DR crafting items so that when I get my weaponsmithing to level 20 (currently 16) I can craft one of my GWFs a awesomely super powerful Fallen Dragon Greatsword. I was going to get a friendly guild member with purple assets to craft it for me, but just before I sent him the expensive items we realised that the sword binds on pickup.
And then even worse, I realized that my character with the level 16 weaponsmithing is a CW. So leveling up to 20 is useless since it's a farming character (I'm the worst CW in the game, no joke!:D), and I'll have to start over on my GWF accounts. Currently level 2, so that should only take me a few months. Fun.

So I kind of get that the game might not want us to craft those swords and then auction them off for a huge profit, but the mailsmithing is messed up that way as well. You have the ability to re-enforce different bracers for all different classes, but why would I need so many different class items if I'm a single class?...

So my question is- why? What's the point? To drive us insane and keep us crafting forever and ever, so that by the time we craft something a better item will come out?

(Or why not at least make the items account bound instead of character bound? :( )

Sincerely, a frustrated and yet again broke GWF.

Why? Because then the new professions will gain a benefit. No guild crafting anymore and that's good. Second it avoid the Ah-spam of the set.

BoP items simply require you to earn that item on that particular character. with the current CtA changes, we do see that they can make BoP items bound to account instead of bound to character. however, whether or not that will be extended across to other items that are currently BoP is unknown.

also, this limits individuals from just outright buying high end gear from others in the AH. prior to the majority of the BoP changes, gear was available for fairly cheap on the AH which means that people could easily acquire T2 gear by either farming and earning AD or by simply buying zen and converting it to AD. now it's not as simple. some gear, you can still get from the AH but not some of the best in slot gear. and the gear you can get isn't in such high supply that the prices are low. it would seem that more people are farming for and using the gear they get rather than simply farming for gear for profit.

Well here's hoping for account bound items, then :)

This is why I only both with crafting stuff I can actually use on the character tha creates it. ;) Still, i didn't know it was BoP now. Sucks a bit, but not really a big deal for me. I'll just have to focus harder on getting the stuff I want first. :)

Yes, but the problem with CRAFTED items being BoP is it requires you to level crafters of the same type on ALL your characters. That just makes no sense (logically and from a Quality of Life perspective). I don't think any CRAFTED items should be bound on pickup unless its one of the reinforced ones that are already bound. Even there it should be bound to "you", but they should find a way to allow you to bring it to a "crafter" to reinforce it for you.

The whole concept of crafting is making things for other players. Sure, you might want to make something for yourself from time to time, but that should be the exception and not the rule.

Until the the Coffer of Wondrous Augmentation change was discussed in the preview forum pre-Shadowmantle, Bind to Account didn't exist. The BOP status of crafted items predates that and has probably never been reviewed. I would like to see a lot more things BtA, not just crafting items but rare drops from skirmish chests (redcap items, DR transmute weapons etc...) Hopefully the CWA change will lead to more account wide items and even account banks.

I hope Dev's read these and we are not just talking to ourselves - but I also would like to see Bind to Account - it wouldn't affect the AH because it would be BTA and they could actually lower the drop rates because even then a rare drop would be useful.
OR - how about a cost related to passing the item over to another of your characters - say a certain amount of AD based on the tier and rareness as determined by PWE.
I had to rebuild a whole CW from scratch because of poor rolls and all the gear I bought from AD was useless - a system like that would have helped a lot.
Let me know you're at least reading these Dev's please so I know participating in these chats isn't futile.
    Thanks.

Devs aren't able to talk in forums in general. NDA.

It's a good idea and I think they are working in that direction. They figured out how to make stuff BtA. So now it's in the process of being rolled out. This takes time. So we all just need to be patient.

As for the crafting BoP, I'd recommend maybe hitting up the preview server and if it's acting like that there, then bring it up there? That's the most likely place to get a Dev response from.

They've had the ability to make items BtA for a good while, I believe, as this has been the case over on STO for several years. It shouldn't be a huge problem to copy that same sort of code over here. Plenty of things are BtA over there, as well as an account-wide bank, which we sorely need over here. I'd also like the Tarmalune bars BtA, like the lobi (finally) was on STO.

I would love to have epic purple drops BtA instead of BtC--it annoys me to get a nice Talisman or Orb on my DC and just have to salvage it instead of sending it to my CW.
