Would it be possible to create an in-game lock password for the inventory tab so that inventory tab would not be able to be opened at all unless the password was entered?
For example, a lock symbol at the bottom of the inventory tab that when pressed opens a dialog box to key in your selected password, then enter a second time to confirm. Upon completion of confirming the password the inventory tab would close and the inventory button at the bottom of the screen would turn into a lock. Clicking the lock or pressing I would allow you to enter the password. Failure to enter the correct password would send an email to the account holder advising of the attempt.
This would provide individual security in case someone is able to access account by illegal or malicious means. While locked the character tab could be viewed but not manipulated also to prevent loss of equipped items.
I know that we as account holders should do what we can, but there has to be reasonable steps that designers take to evolve and improve on, or else companies like Norton would never have evolved or continue to put out updates. There's always going to be somebody that figures out a weak spot, so companies have to do what they can to keep the account holders from becoming unwilling "Targets".
If you cannot maintain a secure password for your whole account, what would be the point of having additional passwords littered throughout the game? They would be a mere speedbump to an attacker that is already inside. Plus what about other privileges like Guild bank withdrawals?
Unless, you are sharing your account or something (which would be against the Terms of Service), this just creates additional uncessary work for developers and if poorly implemented would grief players who do not want or need such a feature.
I recommend instead using a strong password generator, and/or preferably a good offline password manager, like Keepass, to create and store all your passwords, even on mobile phones. Humans make appalling random password or passphrase generators. Having an app do it for you is not only convenient, e.g. it can store password patterns per site (like PWE/NW requires maximum of 14 character password) and you never need to know what any password is - just copy and paste it - but it is also highly secure.
Single most important thing you ever need to know about Internet/computer security: NEVER RE-USE PASSWORDS. Using password manager software ensures this is extremely easy.
