    Hi
Is there still no ability score respecting when using re-spec tokens?
When are they going to implement that because its kinda annoying.

Last I read there was no word that they were actually going to add this. It was said they wanted to. But didn't know if it would be possible. And even if it was there was no timetable set. It'd have to be added onto the list features they want to add and weighed against other stuff.

Not even soon. Its not even something on the schedule. Devs have indicated that it is something they would like to look at. But how, when, or if. Is just too premature to guess at.

Well soon™ means somewhere between now and the end of time so I stand by soon™.

That is not completely accurate. The dev comment you are referring too, was in a topic about initial stat rolls. There was nothing said, or implied, about race changes.

Considering THIS topic, and its title, is about both. Your comment is a little misleading.

that is true. thanks for clarifying.

    1. Base Stat changes: Create new magic (Purple/Epic quality) items or modify existing ones that allows you to increase a stat by +2. Precedents from the PnP game include Rings, Boots, Necklaces, Gauntlets, Gloves, Helmets, and Cloaks. Of course this does mean that one of the standard ability boost enchanctments would need to be replaced. So instead of the item boosting your Armour Penetration, Recovery, Deflection, and Life Steal, it would boost your Recovery, Deflection, Life Steal and give you a +2 to Constitution. Another possibility is to create more Enhancement stones that just do this, but we are already rather cluttered in the Runestone/Upgrade area. Limit it to just one of these items per character. An alternative is have a solo adventure where the character needs make a moderately difficult journey to Candlekeep. Once there the character is given a difficult adventure to complete on behalf of the priests of Oghma that will add to the library in some way. In exchange for completing this quest, the character will be granted access to a Tome of (Stat) that will add 2 points to any one Stat. Character can do this one time, no other treasure is awarded during this quest.

    2. Gender change: Very easy and in keeping with the existing lore. Introduce the Girdle of Masculinity/Femininity. For those that don't know about this item, it will change you to the opposite gender when you put it on. The change is permanent even after you remove the girdle. Usually required a very difficult set of tasks in order to get this reversed. Most DMs included this as a cursed item in their adventures that added a bit of humour as well as irritation for the players.

    3. Racial change. This can be accomplished by creating an adventure. Character must complete an extremely difficult solo quest on behalf of their god. By difficult I mean doing a T1.5 level epic dungeon equivalent adventure, 3 times, by yourself. Once this is completed your god will as a reward grant your wish and change your race. Another way to do this is your god has decided to grant you a boon and change your race, but not because they being magnanimous. You have been chosen to complete a series arduous missionary adventures on behalf of your god and this is why your race has been changed. These should be difficult solo adventures, somewhere on the order of a normal Throne of Idris, Grey Wolf Den, or Lair of the Pirate King. 3 to 5 need to be completed in order to fulfill your god's wishes. When they need to be completed occurs randomly over a 30 day period, and you cannot travel to any location from PE except to the adventure. This travel prohibition remains until the adventure is completed. There are no other rewards granted in either scenario.

This is how these changes could be accomplished. In no case should a single token be available to change all of them at the same time. When change you Base Stats, your Gender and your Race all at the same time this is new a character and should have to start at 0. A character is defined by all of these, not just by what class they happen to be. Video game or not the D&D logo is attached to this game and the spirit of that at least needs to be adhered to, if it can't be followed exactly in this medium.

The spirit is having fun. End of story screwed up characters for whatever reason are not fun. It gets people out of the game, less people equals a game closing sooner than it otherwise would. This is a simple fix that will not hurt you or your rp reasons against it. Not being for these ideas is schadenfreude on your part.

So I know there was an old thread about the subject and I don't want to bring a old thread back to life. But why haven't they inputed a reroll or race change token. Most mmos have this as an option. I would definitely pay money for this as well so I believe it would be a great way for cryptic to make some money and offer a service. I don't know how hard it would be to do but they could just have you start your character like when you created him. Race, rolls, names, and background you would just have to take out the class selection part or just lock it so it couldn't be change. A retraining token would be nice as we'll because if you choose human you may need to change the stats or just give the three additional points.

So I know they said they were looking into this but I haven't heard anything yet. What do you guys think? I know they are busy with content but I would love to see this happen.

Personally I think its something that should have been available for ages, as during the char creation process the whole idea of what stats do what is very badly handled with only minor information as to how it will affect your end char. Yes we can reroll/respect the in game stats (for a fee) but by the time you can see what stats do what and the original rolls you choose with D&D in mind you find are not what you really wanted its beyond the point of a wipe and restart for most.

I am not against being able to fix your character, I do not derive pleasure from someone else's sorrow. I just presented 3 ways of fixing them if you want. I am only against the token idea. Whether my reasons are for RP or no, this is a RPG MMO, so those would be valid. Just for the record I am not opposed for RP reasons, as I RP very little in the game, I save that for my PnP sessions.

Yes this would be nice, since when you get to level 60 you might decide that your initial stat roll wasn't so great. Race for this game (and most others) are just there for flavor, and choosing a race has no relevance on your gameplay. In games like this, you play a class, not a race, because race has no significant meaning or impact on player performance, even when considering racials, they, at their very best, do nothing more than supplement the class you choose and serve to slightly enhance them which, in reality, only min/maxers who must every squeeze out every ounce of power from their toon give two hoots about. The only real reason to not allow a race change is IF each race came with their own unique at-will, daily, an encounter or two and a few passives. But they don't, they come with a stat bonus and a couple more racials that may or may not be a benefit to your class, and that's it.

Oh, they do have racial quests once you get going in the game, but none of them are significant, none of them give sweet, sweet lootz or unique item skins or special abilities or anything. They are nothing more than another stepping stone quest to level 60, like every other quest.

Incorrect. All of the racial quests end in a special cloak. With the only function to be a special unique item skin.

i hear you on this, but there's kind of like this invisible scale that weighs out d&d lore vs MMORPG accessibility. so if these options do become available, the question is how will they be implemented? you can't deny that this is a d&d branded game and that implementation may be tied into these options.

and the game, as is, doesn't include these options. and i'm pretty sure the number of people that are willing to accept the game as is outweighs the number of people that consider this a deal breaker. as it's been said before, the forums only represent a small percentage of the player base. i mean, come on. i know it's the weekend, but trying to find a low populated instance in the winter zone is not an easy task.

Is there an update on this please?

I fully appreciate it's on the list, but any steps to prioritise / give us an eta would be greatly appreciated by the Neverwinter community.

Having played a lot since beta (semi-embarrassed to admit the 98 days worth of gameplay time and counting) and also supported the game and developers with the purchase of Zen as well as been highly active within the Neverwinter community I am currently:

    - All rank 10s enchants inc. utility slots with perfects and BiS gear including 3x Orange Artifacts
    - Have the necessary 5x purple companions plus more (for switching load outs)
    - Having read forums avidly & tested multiple builds am confident of being correctly feated
    - Make full use of all in game mechanics including buffs, combat advantage, etc.
    - Have a bit of a mount and outfit collection going on for fun
    - Have spent a lot of time painfully levelling professions.

I enjoy playing the GWF to it's maximum potential in PvE and have purely focused on pushing the envelope on this since I first picked up the game

Yet ... having invested all this (time, effort & money) am still restricted by my choice of race and initial ability rolls within the character creation screen in my first 5 minutes of Neverwinter gameplay approx. 6-7 months ago...

Like many out there I simply want to be on even ground with others I play alongside without having to re-roll (not a viable option given all the above).

    Please help...

Pretty sound post valiant4ever, I really don't understand why this hasn't been offered yet. We can talk about D&D, but what I am playing is a D&D themed MMO. I expect MMO features in this game, the D&D stuff is just a setting that allows me to smash enemies over the head with my weapons.

Indeed - This is a topic which has come up before, is coming up now and until resolved no doubt will come up again. It was confirmed by developers this was being looked into a while back, but as of yet no firm ETA.

As a consequence, please can I ask for an update from developers regarding this known issue and ideally get an ETA for the much anticipated and requested Full Ability Respec Token which is to include:
    • The option to change your character's original race, gender and appearance
    • The option to re-roll and assign to your initial ability scores

Pretty much what valiant4ever said, also the description of stats while creating a new character is poor to say the least and it's easy to mess things up.

That is not what I am playing. I am playing D&D in an MMO format, therefore I expect certain core elements to remain true to the game. If I wanted to play a game where I just bashed my enemies over the head, I would play Skyrim, HALO, COD. This is an MMORPG not just any run of the mill killing game. I expect more.

You missed my point and used rather poor examples. If this game wants to charge for various tokens, then they can add another. Having to even consider D&D ruins the conversation. This issue is not something other MMOs deal with, but I can understand that things take time.

I said this before... race/initial ability score change holds true to the lore. It is all over the books, but i guess is not such an easy feature to implement.

Respec our initial score and races is like creating a new character. I did reroll several clerics since there is no initial ability score respec nor race respec but i still keep one my very old character. Although he is not perfect but he keeps many limited time items and unlocked many boons. However, implementing such respec token is like insta-born a character with full of epics, full boons and epic mount (character bound), quite unfair to those who pick to reroll a new character last time and deleted their old character.

So i recommend not to implement such ridiculous feature in our full respec token but instead introduce a rebirth token, after we use the new token, we can change our initial stats, face etc just like recreate a new character BUT with our old character bounded item still being bounded in our inventory. We start again from level 1, leveling like those who reroll and all quest which is done will reset except those with unique rewards (bags/companion/etc). We are not OP since we cannot use full 60 epics except the epic mulhorand. There are also many ppl using epic mulhorand weapon with p.vorpal in lower level so i think we are ok to spend a little AD to perform better in lower level. Bear in mind we still cannot use our lvl 60 epic at level 1 so we must still stick to low level items.

    Description:
"You choose to reborn as another person but your name are kept. Your previously unlocked boons, all treasures, along with selected items (maybe 30 slots for our own epics, enchantment and companions?) are sealed in a box and you can only open it when you reach level 60. Are you sure to reborn now? A token of rebirth will be consumed."
    My choice: Yes!!!

    Any idea??

Here's the problem with the dnd purist argument. There is no pure dnd. Every dnd game out there except for those new to pnp and the game is likely to have some form of house rule. Any reroll etc is just a house rule that MASSIVELY improves the quality of life in the game for hundreds if not thousands of people, with absolutely zero harm to anyone else that does not want to use it, except for in their head, because they think that other people would then be playing the wrong way.

I disagree with honoring every single past decision anyone has ever made. I don't deserve Zen every time they discount an item I purchased at full price. The world has never worked like that.

This is a DND game but at the same time this is also an MMO. A lot of players have been victimized by the misleading tooltips regarding the AB scores in character creation. We know which ones are our primary and secondary attributes, but never did the tooltips list down what each did for our classes. This often leads players to make poor choices because of inexperience. MMO players who are here to play the game and make the most out of their gaming experience deserves to be able to maximize this by being able to Respec their initial scores. There is nothing to lose about being able to Respec our Initial Ability Score Rolls, but rather there is more to gain.

People aren't asking for something for nothing, they are asking to be able to BUY something or if massive changes are made that would invalidate their toon, to get one for free like they do with feats already.

I can see how my post was confusing, I should be more clear. jazzfong suggested that no token should be added because he personally rerolled in the past and deleted characters. My issue is that character deletion is not an issue that should halt the addition of a better respec token. jazzfong basically wants people who want to make changes to be forced into doing the hard work of leveling again. As a side note, no game has easier leveling than neverwinter, so that would have little effect.

Wait a min... I just suggested a way where we can reroll a character just like what other ppl did when they want a new ability score and race while keeping our own boons and items. I still support implementing a token to reroll. We do the same thing like those who reroll but when we reach level 60, those work we done and treasure from sharandar and dread can be reclaimed from an item box. Fair to those who had reroll their character and not insta-create one at level 60 with full epic isn't it? Even leveling in NW is easy but u still take a week to do so, Not too OP function in comparison to previous insta-reset idea.

My problem is that this is my first MMO. I played the same Control Wizard since the beta. I spent a large amount of time into the game and learned how it works. At this point I have learned that my Ability Scores and even my race isn't optimal for the game-style I play.

But there is no way I will start all over with a new character since during this last year I have been leveling and upgrading 12 companions and two mounts that are all bound. Spent huge amount of time, effort and AD on those. Its just not fair to ask that I start all over again and its ofc not even worth it. If the items like that wouldnt be bound like they are, I wouldnt have any problems starting over.

Actually I did start over, I have a new CW and I farmed all the gear etc that I want and I also almost completed both Sharandar and Dread Ring. But why would I play this one when I have all companions on my other one?....... Feels so stupid.

I was hoping that either they fix a re-roll or unbound companions. Prepared for both options.
