Zoom command ?

I didn't touched any computer game lately because life sometimes doesn't let you, and today i went i Neverwinter to see what was changed and all....

Then i saw someone in chat asking how to change zoom level of the camera, so i said to press B.

It didn't occur to me that he was in fact asking how to do this using an unofficial script that apparently can be found on the Internet...

So, someone else arrive, tell the first guy to Google it and after i say "do whatever you want, but dont compain if something bad happen", just stay there in Protector's Enclave insulting me, saying i'm an idiot and that my parents must be related (like cousins or something).

So, now i'm here asking :

Is it perfectly ok to install scripts found on others sites to change things like the zoom level ?
What is the official word on it ?

All i know is that i've played others games where all third party add-on were disallowed and could mean a ban.
Thanks for any advice.

I think u misunderstood the command for the Field of View setting which is something like /gfxsetcamerafov or something like that. It's no script just a slash command.

Yea this is perfectly legit. They are talking about using in game commands. Im aware of at least one that will let you adjust your view in and out with your mousewheel. Sadly, im not in a place that I can easily search for it and repost it.

It is the command /bind numpad1 gfxSetDefaultFOV 80 (80 the distance of view the normal is 55 i think and 70 is what i am using and 100 if i have too look arround, where numpad1 can be anythin on your keayboard or mouse(wheel)), and it is completely legal as it is an ingame implemented command.

If this game had cool devs, they would make some sort of FAQ w/ in game commands like that. Sadly, this games devs are not so hot unless you are talking cash store.. The endless bugs etc show how much they truly care about the core of the game.. When the game first came out people had requested the ability to log to the char select screen. You would have thought devs would have stated, you can, just type /gotocharacterselect and it will log you out to the char select screen. There wasn't a word said about this though until a player figured it out.. There are loads of commands like this in this game and many others that are sadly not released to the general public. It is left for the geeks to figure out.

Please read the Terms of Service.
    16. Official Service and Beta Testing
The games are designed for play only as offered through our Services at the Website. You agree not to access, create or provide any other means through which the game may be played by others, such as through server emulators. You agree not to use any hardware or software, including but not limited to third party tools, or any other method of support which may in any way influence or give you an advantage in the use of the Services which is not authorized by PWE, including but not limited to the use of 'bots' and/or any other method by which the Service may be played automatically without human input.

You may not use any third party software to effect in game services and doing such can result in action against your account.

There are in game commands to adjust your field of view but they are not truly supported, the game looks bad (looks like you're in a fishbowl) and not something I would recommend using personally. You can check out the game commands here.
As far as I know, so take it with a grain of salt, you can use any in game console command that functions. Third Party Modifications to the services are strictly prohibited.

In some boss fights, such as spell plague, it helps to be able to increase your FoV a bit to see the big picture.

I'm sorry to have to say that i sincerely think it was really about some "script" since that word was used in the discussion many times by the guy defending it's usage.
Although searching "neverwinter zoom script -nights" in Google didn't gave me any concluant results.

For the command, it's usefull to know it's there. Wouldn't personnally use it, especially if it work in PvP giving some avantage...
By the way, i already knew that there was ingame commands, but you can't expect everyone to remember each of them.

A big thanks to ambisinisterr for taking the time to copy paste that term of use section and confirming that you're doing the same as some other game studio/publisher on this matter.

As for the guy insulting me, action wich is also agaisn't term of use, if i recall correctly, i dont intend to report it even though he treathen to report me saying i was the one treathening of reporting for his bad behavior.... And if he could very well do it, i think i read on some other topic that we dont get ban unless it's for a very good reason, like exploiting maybe.

On second though, if i return to main topic, that guy saying there was some script to be found on the internet to alter the zoom might have been talking about the chat command given by omuhao. A chat command, wich is some kind of code, might be seen as a script by some people. So, since for me a script is something different, i thought he was telling other people to do something agaisn't term of use and i dont like when i see that kind of chat. It's not that i'm that hard on obeying to rules, but they are rules and like i said in the chat, there's also consequences if you dont play by the rules. What i'm meaning is that my intent were to protect the poor guys by informing them.

But the result of this is that now i'll think twice before trying to help.

By the way, i hope i'll be fogiven for my bad english. I dont even talk english...

If you PvP there are two commands you should load up every time you log in.

    /gfxsetdefaultfov 90
55 is default but anywhere from 75-90 works best to really see things around you. If you stick with the default 55 enemies can be running right behind you and unless you turn your camera you won't know it until they're right on top of you smashing your face in.

    /netgraph 1
This command will show your ping. In PvP and PvE this is a very important thing to know.
