Maces as weapons for Devoted Cleric??

Well, I have seen some people posting about finally being able to use a mace in Devoted Cleric class. Seriously, where this was said? I do not remember anything official stating that there would be changes in the DC hand items. Does anyone have this information?

Mainly because the new specialization follows over the paper path "Leader" in D & D, focusing on buffs. Certainly not me indicates a class more combative.

not read it everywhere but if i could vote:

remove the stupid symbols and give us one and two handed hammers, maces, flails, mornigstars... to finally look like a D&D cleric and not some preaching symbol holding freak. on top of that: all the latest transmutable symbol icons looked awful. they could bring much cooler stuff for hammers and maces.

I thought the Devoted Cleric was a "thing" in D&D 4e (known as the "laser cleric") ? I expect we'll see melee clerics down the road, because the basic 4e Cleric (Templar) is a melee build. I think Cryptic just went with DC for first cleric because it was optimal for balance at the start of the game (considering other classes that had to be in - otherwise there would have been only 1 ranged option, the CW).

I agree with you. But due to the latest actions of Cryptic / PWE, I prefer not to have expectations. It would be really wonderful to have maces and hammers in place of symbols, which personally I find ridiculous. Just wanted to see where this idea came out.

I read many reviews and posts of forums, being at work, so do not need to know what were the ones I saw, but from time to time I meet someone saying that. I was wondering if anyone had info on this ...

Yes, there is the Laser Cleric in 4e, but honestly as having the system, player and teacher, I can say that the version of the tabletop RPG is much more attractive. And balanced. And fun ...

Completely agreed, Why they Spout this as a D&D game, but then have the clerics lack one of their most defining features (Maces and sometimes shield) seems stupid in my opinion, especially considered The Divine classes are my favorite class-type.

As said above though, Perfect world is the EA of MMO's, can make some pretty good games, but then manages to screw it up.

In 4e (the only one i have really played, though I know quite a lot about 3.5 as well) Clerics had access to all Simple melee weapons and used those, the Holy Symbol was generally no more then a necklace or ornament, even on a "laser" Cleric.

In all my RPG games I play a Cleric. I love the Cleric class in this game. That STUPID symbol really annoys the HAMSTER out of me. My DC is bad HAMSTER looking until he pulls out that stupid Symbol.

To be the Devil's Advocate, I actually prefer the symbols. My D&D clerics have always been casters first and foremost since that's my preferred style of play.

It's perfectly valid to want a more iconic mace-wielding cleric, and I'd like to see that as a future class option, but I don't see anything wrong with the current Devoted Cleric (unless you want to get into game mechanics, which is a whole other can of worms).

Its more of an esthetics things. Just looks like the cleric class is a Religious FREAK when we pulls out that Symbol.

... it's a cleric... That's kinda the epitome of religious 'freak' as you put it. They are the direct mortal essance of a divine power.

Especially as they don't let you go agnostic in this game.. which is a pity to me..

Agnosticism doesn't really fly in a universe where the fact of the gods' existence and their function in the order of things is generally known. FR gods, unlike deities venerated in real life, actually do bless and smite people. If I recall, the penalty for refusing to acknowledge any god in the FR is or was to have one's soul smashed into cosmic paste and used to build a wall somewhere :P

There is a difference between a religious freak and somebody who is extremely faithful. When you are running around putting a symbol in peoples faces that makes your AUTO Religious FREEEAK!!!! lol

I don't mind the symbol on the side of my cleric. When its sticking it out, that its just an eye soar to me.

Yes, because being a living conduit for divine power. Channeling that power through a symbol, representing said power. Is far more freakish then using a metal club to bash the unfaithful in the skull claiming you are "blessing" them with each hammer fall.

The animation mirrors the common illustration of a cleric using Turn Undead, for what that's worth.

Also, since the Devoted Cleric is a very magic-centric take on the cleric class, consider that the holy symbol is basically your magic wand.

I'm really enjoying this game. Hope one day there is a paragon path that is Mace and Shield classic cleric. That would be awesome!

Is it just me or does the CTA Scepter look like a "pleasure toy" with spikes on it?

I was really looking forward to seeing something cool, but this thing was horrible looking. By example, the Many Arrows one was awesome in that it just looked different. This thing? Pure Trash.

Yea, im not really impressed with the toothpick. So far none of the event skins have really been anything I like.

Im holding out hope for when they eventually do an Icespire CTA. Dwarven themed symbols have potential to be pretty awesome. Hopefully they are done better then the last few.
