Account has been hacked :(

So today my account has been hacked while I was out for dinner. I was trying to access my gate using gateway on my phone and got invalid username and password. Came home and reset my password to back into the game, only to find that a lot of my stuff are missing. All my AD/Zen/Gold is 0, my purple/blue/green assets are mostly gone, my GPF on my main hand is gone, 3 vorpal enchantments from my bank also gone.
I have already submitted a ticket and changed my password, but from what I can find on this forum, it seems like some others with hacked accounts have been getting no response from GM even after weeks.

Now, I have proof of an account that is linked to this hack. As I have screenshots of this account selling my 3 vorpal enchantments and greater plagurefire on the AH same time as my stuff being stolen. What would you guys suggest that I should do? Is there a way to catch this guy? How can we prevent this from happening to others, if they can hack and bypass emails that's required for authorization. Seems like the emails authorization stuff are all pointless.

You'll have to contact support. http://support.perfectworld.com/app/ask

If for some reason your account is one of those that happens to wind up in an endless redirect loop, there's an email link to support in my sig.

They actually hacked your email account and then reset your accounts password, etc...

1- Whether you recently visited a website the offers "free ZEN" and wrote your info there.

2- You downloaded a program that contains a key logger ( and in that case, you also logged on your e-mail which gave the key logger an access to that too).

3- You gave your account info to someone you trust.

4- You use the same account name/ password in another game ( and supposedly you also use the same pass word for you e-mail). Actually i have seen that one happening before especially for players who play private servers.

If it is neither of this...then we should start to worry about that.

    1. Haven't visited any of these website for at least a month.

    2. Don't think I have.

    3. Only my partner, she was with me during dinner.

    4. Don't play other games, plus this is not my main email that I use.

So my question, since I have screenshots of the person selling my stolen stuff, can anything be done to trace this?

Email support and include SS of the hacker selling your items. Each item should have a unique ID code and so they can easily track where you stuff went.

Actually it's pretty easy to hack somebody especially if they use the forum. I won't say how exactly because I'm sure its a rule somewhere about doing that. My advice is to have a really hard/long password for EVERYTHING all different with random characters.
You should have some luck with CS since you have proof. Gl:)

That's a good point. How complex was your password? Did you have numbers, lower case, and upper case letters?

If by some miracle they do investigate this then I doubt they would need the screenshots since they can probably trace ingame items which will all probably have a unique id number that can be traced server side , at least I'd guess that's how it works.

You would think that. But Ive had mail disappear with items in it, and they wouldn't restore them nor acknowledge whether it was issue with mail system or user error. They just leave you confused.

Longer passwords are better, as they are harder to brute-force attack.

Strongly recommend using a virtual keyboard when logging into websites.

Consider a password manager like Lastpass that will help protect you.. www.lastpass.com

If you perform any financial transactions, use a pre-paid credit card or game card. Consider protecting your PC with Trusteer Rapport that will protect you while you are logged into a secure session: http://www.trusteer.com/ProtectYourMoney

Finally, make sure you have current virus software and a firewall AND regularly scan for Malware. I like Malware Bytes myself.http://www.malwarebytes.org/

By the way - All the links provided point to free applications...

thank you for that, I will try using them all from now

an update to my situation, they're going to attempt to roll back my character, no certainty as to what state my character will be in, so hopefully I get all my stuff back, may loose things friends has sent in order to help me out after all my stuff were stolen, but I much prefer to have my character back to how it was before the hack

If the game feels it might have been a problem on their end I'd feel better if I were you, but you still need to check your system at home. These type hacks are usually the result of either a spoof page that pretends to be your website long enough to get your PW, or a Trojan you have picked up along the way that monitors keystrokes and forwards them to its master who gets your security data from that. Gold seller and cheat websites are riddled with these traps. If you have been to ANY of them, I would get some good antivirus/malware software, do a full system scan, and change all my critical paswords, bamk credit cards ISP account etc. Better safe than sorry.

I recommend putting spaces in your password. They are virtually impossible to hack. Unless you went to a bad site and they have a keylogger in your system.

    Example bIg joHn24 1930

Upper and lower case letters, with numbers and spaces in between. I have been playing since UO using passwords like these, and never been hacked.

    Tips:

Dont use your own name. Dont use your birthday, or the current year, or your hometown. Love, hate, fear, and boobies are all common and shouldnt be used.

Your password should be completely random, and have nothing to do with anything in your life. Hometown you were born in, lastname, first name, kids name, wifes name etc.

    GL to ya

i like to use a program called Password Corral. It's encrypted. It's a program that stores your usernames and passwords and will randomly generate passwords for your use. i like making randomly generated 16 character passwords with it. So far *knock on wood* no one has hacked my in all my years of playing MMOs. i also block scripts on webpages, unless it is a page i trust, to avoid the keylogger issue. And i generally don't visit sites that offer to sell gold or give away free zen, unless it's a site PW has shared.
