1. The marketing of companions; any companion other than augment companions are USELESS due to the fact they die so easily.
2. REpetitive companion sounds; every 10 seconds I am forced to hear my companion make repetitive and MEANINGLESS NOISES! Do that for an hour; this is a sign your devs do not play the game. If they did, they would never allow this to happen - because like the milliions of players, they would be ANNOYED.
3. High Cost of companions; never in mmo have i seen this kind of blatant and grotesque commercialism. It has only put the Wizard of the Coast label into the gutter as yet another heartless corporate enterprise.

Its not WotC, its PWE. Wizards only coughed up the licensing of the IP, which i am sure they are regretting right now.
1. companions are for the most part a fashion accessory.
2. or devs might play on mute, I play on mute so companions sounds don't bother me.
3. selling high price companions to people and cosmetic outfits pays for the game.
would you prefer they charged zen for new maps and events?
ultimately companions are an OPTIONAL cost, you should spend your AD on augment pets
some people like to have a cleric or a flying sword following them around.
and eliminating pets YOU don't like from this game will probably not solve anything
they would probably raise prices on mounts and fashion maybe sell more augments.
My pov on the matter is every pet or costume part I don't like is at least one person
not using the same pet/gear/outfit as me.

Non-augment companions are pretty much useless for epic dungeon boss fights, yes....but they can be just fine elsewhere. When playing as a DC, I have a Galeb Duhr, properly equipped with Life Steal, Regeneration and Recovery (you know, it is useless to give companions anything else), and it practically never dies (been several weeks since it last died) If you want your companions to survive you just need to give them a little help.

Get a silent companion, then. I have never heard the Faithful Initiate or the Mercenary make any sounds, for example.

Get real.... Just how do you propose that player pay for the development of the game then? Cryptic/PWE need to sell something to make the game profitable. They have chosen to go the route of allowing people to pay for convenience (bank slots, respecs, faster mounts) or unnecessary fluff (most companions and fashion items), instead of selling weapons and such like some P2W games do. I'm happy with this, and unless you can suggest some alternative income, your complaints are irrelevant.
Having said that, I do have an issue with some of their prices - personally I think their profits would actually increase if they slashed the prices of things like mount and companion upgrades, but maybe they feel those sales are good enough as it is.
Hoping for improvements...

It does seem like they're trying to squeeze every nickle and penny. A good example would be the Hero of the North, most of us were mislead into thinking it would be a limited time offer. They offered free DLC (if you call it that) for Fury pack, yet charged 60 bucks for a mount, companion and an enchantment.
It didn't really offer new content, then you have a zen store companion coming out every month for 20 bucks. I mean, they should be at least 5-10, 20 bucks each for one alt is a tad greedy. By the time most of the people understand they won't be pumping out content like PVP maps.
They would have already had more then enough of you're money. They had 200 dollars of my money since they opened the game. So it's it like they gave up on trying to impress. All they really have to do is make more zen store companion and more money.
It boggles my mind, if players can create new missions with foundry. Why cannot they create new maps for lower level PVP.

They have the highest profit margin of any mmo out right now. Even WoW cannot touch bilking their customers out of this kind of $$.
If it is their goal to make their companions a "cosmetic item only" then that should be the statement. But nowhere in the advertising are we led to believe this. We are led to believe that they are useful (and some actually are, but most ... are just horrible).
Nowhere in the advertising will you find the fact that Augment pets are the most useful because they dont risk death. Nowhere will you find this but from talking to the gamers, or reading about it elsewhere.
F Y I; There are ways to make profit without false or misleading advertisement schemes. If a stateside company were to do this nonsense with real world assets, it would find itself sued and out of business.
