I have this idea in my head about a damage return build focused on high hp pool, regeneration and 50+ dmg reduction + that awsome armor enchantment.
The GF itself has alot more defense then offense ways of building it. Also we have feats and encounters and a daily that provides enough dmg return to be competitive in pvp and a mob magnet in dungeons.I just wonder if anybody did it already and if so provide me with information about it.Really considering starting a new one and doing this build.
As an example, a Perfect Briartwine returns only 4% of the attacker's damage as what I'm assuming is physical damage. That's 400 damage if you get nuked with a 10k damage ability. Not only that, but physical damage is reduced by damage reduction AND deflection. I just don't see it being that much of a bonus, compared to any of the currently existing enchantments or the new Feywild ones.
Supremacy of Steel, on the other hand, is downright amazing.
It is a very good PVE skill if you have a competent DC and an amazing PVP skill against things that attack really fast(TR's Flurry and GWF's Unstoppable). It should also be noted that Supremacy of Steel's sword will proc your weapon enchantment, as well. It becomes even stronger when paired with Knight's Valor, as it will then shoot swords at anything that attacks your allies as well. That ends up building massive amounts of threat that's actually able to peel mobs from quite far away.
I've been planning a similar build as well for quite some time now and I've got the stats, encounters and feats down. But I'm interested in how Supremacy of Steel procs our weapon enchantment. This means that this type of build would work well with Lifedrinker and technically we would be gaining HP in the process of taking damage while Knight's Valor is active. Am I correct?
I also have some other questions I was hoping to get some answers to. Thanks in advance for any and all information regarding these queries!
1. Knight's Valor "intercepts" half the damage our allies would have taken. Does this mean that technically we're getting attacked as well? If so do these attacks proc our Armor Enchantments as well when they have effects that strike back when we are attacked?
2. Regarding how Supremacy of Steel procs our weapon enchants. Can we also say that the swords Supremacy of Steel stabs at our opponents are considered as "attacks"? If the answer is yes, does it also have a chance to proc effects of GF Armor Sets like the Valiant Warrior with Supremacy of Steel?
3. Does Supremacy of Steel build AP when it starts reflecting attacks?
I guess that's all for now. I apologize if these questions seem silly and noobish. I'm looking forward to getting these questions cleared up!
You should be wary of the incoming changes before committing serious resources:
Knight's Valor: Incoming damage from this power is no longer sometimes evaluated as an Encounter power for the purpose of triggering effects.
Knight's Valor: This power no longer incorrectly multiplies its Action Point gain for every target affected.
Supremacy of Steel: The follow-up AoE power now properly benefits from stats and buffs on the player, and is properly affected by defenses on the target.
At the moment, Supremacy is very nice situational in PvE and maybe even godly in PvP against CW and TR. I believe it is recieving the same "Physical" damage treatment now, making it less effective.
KV, which already was hardly ever used and is seriously bugged, is receiving hefty nerfs...
Prior to Mod 1 Patch I've used Knights Valor for AP Generation to maintain a 90%+ uptime of Menace (20% Damage boost). As it did more damage over all then using SoS with Knights Valor as your team generally takes less damage because of CW's using sing.
Also the amount of damage you'll reflect from Knights Valor is going to be low due to all of the damage mitigation. But it is a fun skill and a good combo if you are a pure tank build as your cleave damage will be low and the gain from this combo would be higher than menace.

Oh wow, that's pretty disappointing. But I may as well try it out nonetheless, right? I like the idea of a tank being able to shield allies even from far away. Thank you for this information. I could have missed it if I didn't get to read the GF patch notes. I guess I'll have to scrap the idea of getting increased AP from SoS + KV.
Regarding how KV is no longer evaluated as an encounter power for triggering effects, will it still trigger the effects from the Valiant Warrior set? The set only specifies that the opponent needs to be struck for the 25% chance unlike the Timeless Hero set's effect which may have been the cause of that nerf. Thanks in advance for any answers you may have!

Thank you so much for the answers. Just some minor clarifications about the damage mitigation. Will we be dealing an overall lower damage via KV due to the damage mitigation of allies or our enemies? And yeah just thinking about how the build is played is quite fun! I like the GF class a lot but never had the time to level one until now. Also, regarding the AP generation of KV. After the patch. In which situations will it be able to generate AP now that its AP generation effects will become more obscure after the mod 1 patch? Thanks once more, dkcandy.

As of before the Feywild patch:
Yes, it procs Lifedrinker. I actually have a normal Lifedrinker on my GF for this purpose.
1. Yes. It will proc your armor enchantment.
2. Unsure. I use Stalwart, so I'm unsure if Valiant Warrior works. I can tell you that Knight's Valor will build stacks on Stalwart, though.
3. Not really sure if it does. All I know is that you build massive amount of AP by getting hit from so many sources at once. If you put feat points into Action Surge(+10% AP while guarding), then it works even better.
Edit:
Looks like one Feywild Boon will be good for this build:

The amount of damage the SoS reflect does is based on the amount of damage received. The damage you receive from KV is low and so the damage you reflect is low between 1 to 80 normally. Being hit directly you can get up wards of 800+ if memory serves and I don't know if this is going to change. I haven't been on the PTR since the patch changes as I've kind of been looking for replacement builds with nerf to STAL and getting gear just in case.
As for AP generation from KV, I'm pretty sure I read on the forums that someone else tested it and the generation is much lower than before. Instead of gaining 70-80% of your AP bar by using the skill with all 4 teammates next to you, it now only gives a much lower amount. So I'm switching for PvE back to Knight Cap Set + Into the Fray to counter all of the nerfs to my mates classes DPS & AP generation.

Wow thanks a bunch, Mutantdemocracy. Got some answers I've been looking for! I've been thinking that it would be awesome if Thunderhead proc'd from KV. Would be good support for our allies when it stuns the mobs attacking them. Or maybe Bloodthirst as well, despite it being highly situational. But it fits the blood theme of the build. It would also be great if Valiant Warrior managed to proc from KV hits as well. It may be an effective way to debuff some mobs while increasing one's survival, but this still needs to be tested. I can't wait until I cap the toon and test the build at 60.
And I agree with you regarding the boon! I believe Fey Thistle (400 damage each time we deflect an attack) and Elven Tranquility (gives us a chance to heal 400 whenever we are struck) would work significantly well with a "reflect and absorb" type of build. Thanks for the suggestions, answers and tips! I greatly appreciate them. I think I can move forward with the build with these information in hand. I'll post a rough draft sometime in order to gain a bit of feedback from our expert GF's.

Hello and thanks once more for the answers and tips, dkcandy! I guess KV will mainly be used for its reflective purposes in conjunction with SoS at this rate. But from what I heard generating AP as a GF is more often than faster that most classes. Man I'm just itching to test this build now that I've managed to get me some answers.
I'm also glad to hear that you're managing to move forward with the Stal nerf. I thought it was a bit overboard but nonetheless it's good to see that you're unfazed with the Stal nerf. Good luck with finding a replacement build, and I'll keep an eye out for updates on your guide.
