there are two new classes being tested and neither of them have been announced, but the consensus thinks they are the ranger and the warlock. one will be probably be part of module 2. which one that is, i do not know.

there is a devs Q&A being done tomorrow in IRC chat. here's a link: http://www.neverwinter-online.com/2013/08/15/neverwinter-irc-chat/

there would be a good place to address this question, although i'm sure you aren't going to get definite answers about things like "when" because those announcements are usually reserved for official news releases.

me personally, with 2 fighting classes already, and the rogue as a 3rd melee class, i want to see a druid or necro. i don't really see the need for a paladin, or a ranger, but the variety would be nice. maybe you could make them part of paragon class, with a ninja going to the rogue? while we're on the discussion of variety, how about giving us different melee weapons? bows, hammers, axes, maces would be welcome. making them ourselves is useless, because by the time we make something for our own class, we already have equipment that is way better then what we made. and to make it for someone else is just as useless, because by the time they can use it, they don't need it.

I just received an e-mail inviting me to return to the game. There are a lot of things I like about this game, and a lot of things I think have tremendous potential.

However, without the addition of new classes, I have no real desire to play. Not when I have so many other options to choose from.

I know that news about more classes, or even just a class would peak my interest again

Rangers and paladins aren't going to be paragon paths. The game is based off of 4th edition D&D. All classes are classes in 4th edition and all the paragon paths are paragon paths in 4th edition. Rangers and paladins are both classes.

The way at wills are set up I am not sure how they are going to work out paragon paths with different weapons since classes are restricted to one as far as I see in 4th edition paragon paths could use a different weapons.

The most likely solution is that paragon paths that are based around using specific weapons won't be used unless it already matches the weapons they have selected for a particular class.

If they could somehow allow your character use of the paragon paths weapon when you unlock and choose your paragon path maybe even give a quest that gives you a weapon to start with that could work.

Here is an example the cleric in 4e has an Angelic Avenger paragon path that is proficient with heavy blades you choose that you get a quest to pick up your paragon path starter weapon.

The only problem I see with this is maybe some pre level 30 encounters and at wills might not fit that weapon style.

    Cryptic,

Are the new 2nd Pargon path coming for all classes with the 6th class and the 7th class?

and how long for the 3rd pargon path for the current 5 classes as well as the 8th and 9th classes?

Hey Cryptic, and fellow forum goers.

I really want to come back to this game, but the lack of a class I like is stopping me. Now I really wanted to play a healer in this game but even in the table top game I really dislike the devout cleric option (I have one but it's really not giving me the playstyle I want.). Currently this is my only option in game. I'm really hoping that new healers are on the way I know 2 more dps classes are on the way but how about giving more healer and tanking options. Personally I'm really hoping to see battle Cleric, Rune Priest, Shaman, or even Warlord added, one of those 4 healers alone would be enough to make me start playing again and spending money on Zen, or even a Warden added to the tanking options.

I like the feel of the game and how it works over all, but I don't like that I can't find a class I want to spend my time on or waste anymore money on Zen on.

So please Cryptic, get the new classes out soon. I'd really like to come back.

The only thing they will say currently is that the next class is due out before the end of the year.

Oh, for the love of... AGAIN? Are you f'ing kidding me? They are trying to get the new class out by the end of the year. A new post every day won't make it happen faster. We really don't need a new thread every single day about this.

I want a healer class which is innate divine spell caster. Too bad there is no such a class in 4e.

This class won't be the "Invoker" in the DnD4e?

Even the "when are the new classes going to happen?" is getting a bit old by now, the OP has a point, I think we need more tanks/healers instead of more DPS (which I think the next 2 classes are supposed to be)
There are few healers and tanks in game, we should have more options.

The only new class I've ever heard about is "ranged", but that could mean a lot of things. Many say it's Ranger, but it can just as well be Warlock, or a new cleric. We won't know until it's out or confirmed, so why not wait with the complaining until then?

I do hope it's another kind of healer. Although I don't think the devs would refer to a healer class as ranged (even though they clearly are) after all most healers have always been ranged, so I'm guessing they meant a ranged DPS, but I hope you're right. :)

I'm glad some people are enjoying the game, but for me the game just isn't complete. IMHO any MMO game based upon a class and role based system really needs to have at least 2 classes that can fill every roll to be even close to "live" ready. Since D&D4e is based upon 4 main roles Defender (Tank), Leader (Healer), Striker (DPS), and Controller (CC) I hate the fact that this late after the release of Neverwinter we don't have enough classes that at least 2 cover each of those roles effectively. And yet they have incorporated 3 "new" races into the game (Moon and Sun Elves being the same thing with different skin and name).

The typical Paladin, Ranger (Bow), and Druid type classes really need to be added to this game to really flesh the options out ASAP, and with three classes with proper build options players would have multiple options to choose from to fill the 4 core roles and begin to see a little diversity. Instead you see the same 4 or 5 character builds on every single person running around.

One of the things that really lets Neverwinter down is the lack of build/character customization... like you say everyone of the players is just one of the 4 or 5 builds available. I realise its a new game but they should have at least had the main DnD classes available at launch! DDO launched with all the main ones so why couldn't Neverwinter?

Because the two games had different budgets, different goals, etc.

So you "take his point" about the games having different budgets, priorities, and so forth, but still argue that it should have more classes "because it's a DnD game"? Um... yeah...

yes that's right i can see what he is saying there but i still think that as a DnD game it should have launched with at least the main DnD classes and not a few like it has done. I cant see why you would release a DnD MMO and not have the base classes available to play! it just seems silly to me. How dumb is it that there are skeleton archers but as a player you cant be a Ranger and use a bow WTF!

DnD originally started with the 4 basic classes. Fighter, mage, cleric and thief. Rangers were a sub-class which were added later. This game is adding a ranged class (rangers?) later.

THIS game is based on 4e not 1e. 4e

Classes that should have been with release: fighter, wizard, cleric, warlock, monk, barbarian, warlord, druid, rogue, PALADIN.

I cant believe paladin was not at release. Forgotten realms has more paladins in it than any other DnD setting. And lets face it a martial artist monk class would be a very awesome and fun addition to this game.
