I was also a victim of the white log in screen. Apparently using a VPN solves the problem. Until Cryptic fixes the issue, you can use these free VPNs as temporary fix:

Has anyone else tried this? I started to download hotspotshield only to have Mcaffee red flag it, then tried cyberghost, same thing. I like Neverwinter, but not enough to risk infecting my PC.

The point of the program is to reroute your traffic through another network, which is probably the cause of the red flag. Security-wise it sends your data over an encrypted network so it's pretty safe.

The good news is that I managed to get in, Invoke on my characters (in time to not lose those stupid coins), and do a little inventory management. The bad news is that after about 30 min, I got booted out and cannot connect to the account server to get back in.... Two steps forward, one step back.

Still, thanks for the tip. Getting in for half an hour was better than not getting in at all.

I think you misunderstand. I got a red flag from McAfee when I attempted to download their software. I did not get to the point where it was installed and trying to run. I hit cancel on the download due to this, I did not save or run the download.

I also wondered whether the software was legit, because I wasn't familiar with it. So I googled the name, knowing that if it was malware in any way, that would come up. I found that Hotspot Shield had been rated on a wide variety of tech sites, and there was no mention of malware-type issues. I went ahead and downloaded it and was able to play just fine all last night. I plan to keep using it at least until this issue's resolved. I'd say you can ignore McAffee's paranoia and go ahead, but you'll have to decide what you're comfortable with.

I'm having the same problem as a Verizon FIOS customer, all of a sudden I can't get past the white loading screen. I am loath to start downloading random third party software I've never heard of before, however. Can we get some kind of official commentary on this?

Ok I went ahead and installed the first one, http://www.hotspotshield.com/, and it solved the problem right away and runs smoothly and transparently. Sad to have to do this but it's easy and might be something we should run on our pc's for privacy reasons anyway.

So now we know without a doubt the problem all along has been with Verizon.

Ya I'm using cyberghost VPN, that and a few other VPN softwares are easy and pretty good. just at times you might get lag spikes depending on where the server you are connecting to is located.

There's nothing "random" about VPN. It's a tried-and-true technology that's been around for 15+ years. If you aren't familiar with the specific tools recommended (I wasn't), you could do (as I did) a search to verify that they'd been tested out by reputable orgs and found to be free of malware or the like. Or you can choose not to play, which is fine, too. It's just a game after all.

As for an official comment, I agree that would be nice, but I'm not willing to hold my breath until it happens.

HotSpot got me past the white launcher screen and allowed me to get to my character selection. Beyond that i am unable to get into most of my characters. game times out at loading saying connection timed out. However i am able to get in to one character that i left in protector's enclave, but after a few seconds i get disconnected from the server. It took me 6 log-ins to be able to drop an alter and pray. Where's the cryptic / PW feed back? Even if this is a Verizon fios issue would feel a lot better to see cryptic acknowledge that something is being done.
