The Foundry and Me

So, I published my first foundry today (As you can see it is shamelessly plugged in my sig) and spent the entire day trading reviews and playing others foundry quests.

I had never really got into it before because it always seemed like rewards were lacking and half of them were just buggy or exploits.

Well, I spent the entire day playing other people's foundries, and I can definitely say, yes, the rewards are lacking, by my goodness it was fun! I am impressed by the stories and characters the community can develop. The dynamic instances and effects that everyone can muster up with such a limited tool set. I am impressed, and I had a blast.

I wish the rewards were greater, but I get why they cannot be. The rewards are mediocre and people still exploit, it would be out of control if you could actually gain from it. But, neither here nor there. My hat goes off to the community. Great job putting these together and great job being so friendly and helpful in this forum, rare form for an MMO.

Cheers!

Yeah, I have a much better time levelling by doing foundry quests than regular ones, the story makes up for it, besides I can choose whatever I'm in the mood for. I'm a fan of ghost stories, and there's quite a lot of these :)

I second that sentiment! I've given up on the official campaign, foundry missions are much more fun!

But man, the rewards are so much less. I paused from playing Foundry non-stop to do the quests for the third bag, and was amazed at how much stuff just flooded in from treasure chests and nodes.

Same here. Before yesterday, all I did was log in, check professions, invoke and then queue up for dungeons and roam around PE. And then the event made me look into the Foundry. Yesterday I decided to make my own foundry quest, and oh boy its fun! Its a lot of fun to create your own story, share it and get it reviewed, and to review and feedback others quest as well. Goodbye PvP and official content for me. When module 1 arrives, we will probably bull doze through the official content in 3 days. Back to the foundry again. And I agree with the OP, compared to the rest of MMOs and even this very own game's forum(other sections), the Foundry stands out as being very mature and newbie friendly.

    Just done the same actually.

Made about 8 Gold, 20k AD from selling stuff I picked up but was over level for, and got a third bag (now full of T2 and T3 Runes).

Makes the rewards from Foundries look laughable to be honest.

All that matters is that you are having a good time. Sometimes I wish the rewards were better, but then I think of the types of quests that would dominate if they were, and I am perfectly happy with the status quo.

I am confident that they could find a way to work in harder loot. Like, if you kill X amount of hard enemies and are in the foundry for >30 minutes or something. That way, even if people do exploit to kill the mobs, its the same time commitment for people who are playing for real.

You'll never stop people from exploiting, but there are ways.

Either way, that wasnt the intention of this thread, it was to give around of applause to the community for a job well done! Can't wait to play more of these. And now that I have my first one done, I am going to put in some long hours working on an in depth series. Thanks everyone for all the tips!
