I was inspired by (can't find original post) a guy that said his evil mistress had instutited no games night in the castle. His children were in the next room ploting his demise. I told him to make foam weapons and RP/fight IRL so shes like jsut go play the computer game and stop wrecking the house. Perhaps he destoryed this scroll of evil rather than craft the weapons?
Anyways. you awaken somewhere in the underdark. Around you are corpses with neat holes in the skull that could only mean one thing. Thinking maybe you ought to find a way to end your life you hear a whisper though a crack in the wall. "There is a way out of this place but you must craft the weapons of your own demise, look around the room"
so um how do I open the map editor or whatever and is this gonna be so complicated I don't want to work for free?

Kudos for awesome intro. Never has the phrase "dafuq did I just read" been more apropriate. But anyway, the map editor is the Foundry. Only tried it once in beta, but pretty sure if you load up the Foundry, it should be easy to understand.
As for working for free... people can tip you if they like the stuff you make, and I think that's the best way to make money. Or astral diamonds, to be precise. So if you make awesome stuff people enjoy, you can get paid a bit. The trick is to get people to play it, so maybe tell your friends about it, and/or join a guild and have them try it?
LOL I just mean is it user friendly? I am happy to make some content and prolly would have fun doing so if it is. If its like a complicated task... well I might do it if you pay me CASH$$$. I manged to get er open. Right now I am just geting used to moving some boulders around on a new map I made called "newb coast" lol. I really feel like fred flintstone. I am glad you can at least edit in like playing game mode cause doing it abstractly.... I don't know you have to be like seeing the matrix to get that **** to work I think. Anyways looks maybe doable. I will let ya know as my project progresses.

The problem, if you will call it that, is that the Foundry is supposedly easy to use, and it's easy to share things you make with the community. This means there are a lot of people who makes a lot of great stuff - for free. So if you want to get paid for creating stuff, you pretty much not only have to compete with every other person who makes stuff in the Foundry, but you also need to find people who are willing to pay for it. So that said... I'm sorry, but I don't think you should hope to get paid for making stuff. There's just so much free stuff out there already, that paying for the same stuff seems a bit odd.
no I mean if this is like a professional devloper tool they gave me... well thanks... I will become a professional developer. Then they can hire me and put me on the payrole. I hope its like an apple product where ****ing hammers can make professional productions because all the stuff under the hood the real pros made for you. Its prety good, but still alot of room for improvment in terms of making it intuitive.

And again, you're not listening to me. *Everyone* gets the Foundry for free. So why should they pay you, when there are half a million other players who does the same job for free?
I am listening your just not getting my point. With so many people there will be a curve of how much tedious-ness (such as explaine this to you!) they are willing to tollerate. If the tools are more user friendly then the number of people willing to make stuff with it will be more. I am just saying on one end of the spectrum you can have "tools" that are like so un-user-friendly you have to be a real programer or whatever to use. If its like that then not as many people will find it fun and just make some content for free.

You won't make any money by making stuff for this game. That's all there is too it. Have fun trying, though. As for me, I'm done trying to make you understand it.
