**Note this is not a discussion about what wiz specialty is the best. Some people strictly do Foundrys, Pvp, roleplay, or are in a perma group--so we all have different needs ****
I am getting ready to respec my lvl 60 CW Renegade to change some spells-- tho i might wait til after Aug 22--I thought while I was at it, I would revisit my ability scores. I am looking for input from other renegades who have respecced. . .or have played different types/focused rene.
There is that DnD part of me that hates that some of my ability scores sit at an odd number.
( In DnD only even numbers give you the highest benefit)
How much does one point really affect anything? You know, 10 % vs 11%?
I am not unhappy with my build and she performs quite well in all the things that I personally do in game-including PVP. Not that this is a great barometer for how a build does, but I have all the painiller/executioner/headhunter acheivements despite soloing more than group... I feel that once I have my top end enchants, she will be even more fun. I am 21 Int/ 21 CHA / 17 Wis and focus on crit and armor pen almost have full Shadowweaver set, I'm ok with these stats but
Coming from a DC whom found she never had enough stamina in PvP, I put points into Strength...I think that the 5% stamina gain is nice, but maybe CW don't need to put points here?....Maybe we have all this crazy dodge anyway? This is what I think I would like to change and throw the points into CON I guess.
21 INT/ 21 CHA / 17 WIS seems a fine, and as we can't repec initial attribute rolls at present is one of the safer choices.
The problem with min-maxing is that the ideal min-max keeps changing with every patch. I very much doubt putting points in CON or STR will be of any real help though.

you should NEVER be putting points into Str, Dex or Con...
INT gives 1% Damage bonus and 1% Recharge Speed
WIS gives 1% Control bonus/resist, 1% Recharge Speed, 1% Action Point gain
CHA gives 1% Critical Chance, 1% Combat Advantage damage and 1% Companion stat bonus
If you wanna be a Gatling Encounter caster, INT and WIS are your best.
Since you want to be Renegade, I'm guessing you would rather just fire Magic Missiles, so INT & CHA will give you some great damage and crits and bonus to combat advantage damage which you should be getting from the Renegade tier 2 feat.
Its only 1% difference between each point, so you wont notice the difference till you hit the long boss fights.
so don't be worried about sacrificing 1 int for 1 wis so wisdom will be an even number...
Maxed WIS will give you 4% extra recharge. With my recovery (3200) and 16 WIS i have, for example, 14 sec CD on steal time. With 20 WIS it will be 14/(1+0.04) = 13.46 sec cd. You won't even notice it.
Hold on, how is Wisdom for a wizard even remotely a waste? That stat is the most direct boost to your Recharge Speed Increase, Action Point Gain, Control Bonus and Control resist. One point raises four relative nice to have stats, before any ratings from gear get taken into account.
On NeverwinterPreview, I've this Moon Elf Control Wizard that I started with Int 18, Wis 16 and Cha 14. Now, she's at level 22 with Int 21 Wis 19 and Cha 15 (campfire bonus included) and without any recovery items on her, her Recharge Speed is at 20% and her Action Point gain at 10% (Moon Elves get a +1% AP gain bonus). If I add in some Recovery boosting items (96 points worth so far for me), what I get is a rather measly +1% bonus to Recovery and AP gain.
Admittedly, I don't have the hindsight of having played a CW at endgame... but everything I've seen of high Wis seems pretty **** significant from my point of view. Shorter cooldowns and longer crowd-control time just seems to be equally synergetic
Also, doesn't Recovery cap after a certain point? Ability Score given bonuses, though, don't. So, wouldn't a high Wisdom CW with 3000 in Recovery enjoy ~8% in recharge bonus and AP gain over a crit-focused CW? And that's not just on one power in cooldown, but rather all four. It seems to me that it all adds up to something fairly impressive.
Just take a calculator and calculate your recharge speed with 15 wis (basic for all int/cha) and 19 wis (int/wis). Formula is cooldown/(1+recharge bonus%). 4% crit is far more better, than this meaningless 4% recharge and AP gain. And preventing question...
Let shield regen 5% (rounded) of your AP crystall. With 4% more AP gain it wouldn't regen 5+4 = 9%, it would regen 5*(1*0.04) = 5.2. You still need to hit 20 enemies, if you want 0->100% of your crystall anyway.
if you are just making a cn mule, maxing int/wis is fine, but if you just want to have an end game cw... Int/Cha is the way to go.
considering crit heavily gives diminishing returns past 3k while recovery begin to severely fall off past 4k. Int/Cha is a better build in terms of dps.

As posted above, the increase in recharge and AP gains is minimal. No point.
So just load up full in int and cha. My tiefling is 24 int and 24 cha.
Thats alot of crit + higher combat advantage dmg which we also get from crits in the renegade build. Nice synergy.
