Will Ioun Stones still have it's place as a good companion after the patch?

Will Ioun Stones still have it's place as a good companion after the patch?

I'm planning to buy one, so I might end up buying an inferior companion given that the new patch is coming in a few weeks. Will there be any "stone-like" companions coming soon?

I would think so. Havent read anything about changing the stone or cat. They are the best companions for reasons explained in many other posts.

Also in one thread about the new gear, a CM mentioned keeping it t1 and t2 to not increase the power creep, I would hope they would go along those same lines with their CS items for the next module. After that its up in the air. They'll give you the tomes/or whatever to upgrade the ones we have/future ones they release. But Id be surprised and a bit disappointed with inconsistency if they did release another augmentation that's more powerful so soon.

    imo it depends

if you go into epic dungeons often, then the noncombat pets will prolly still the best option, but when youre just pveing solo, i can image others to be usefull too, depending on how its implemented

    for example the dire wolf:
Dire Wolf: This companion's basic attacks now grant Combat Advantage.
when every wolf attack gives you CA, then this will be pretty awesome for rogues

    Also a quick note. ^^

What he said this is for end game dungeons. T1 and T2.

Foundry I actually still use my White lvl 15 cleric. I only run Clash of Wills, but the cleric allows me to run it on my GWF w/o using any potions.

Edit: This could probably also be achieved by running with a defensive set of gear w/ lifesteal, regen, defense, deflect. and augmenting stats with the stone. (running w/o using potions) but idk she does the job.

Ioun stone is good no matter what, simply due to the fact that it cannot be killed. No patch notes have stated that a new ioun stone is coming. Even there is, it will probably be giving different stats.

The Ioun stone of allure is a good buy atm, and with the next patch, you can upgrade the stone from blue to purple with AD (if the service does not bugged out, that is).

Its weakest point for ioun stones is during early to mid levels, where it is where an active companion shines as he/she/it is considered to have the strength of another member. Consider getting the free companion at level 16, or buy a white one for 2G. If you have a bit of AD to spare, try buy some each companions over the AH to try first.
    "Lucky" is the new FOTM.

Oh, I already have a level 15 cleric and tanker. I just hit 60 a few days ago and I noticed that a few, if not all, actually requires you to have a stone to get in their party. Not to be a party pooper or anything, but extra stats that don't go away unless dismissed might actually be useful. Thanks for the advice guys!

Was there a price mentioned for the upgrade? That seems interesting...if not expensive.

The stone of might is currently limited because at level 20 the 3rd equipment slot is locked, so this is good news for that companion, but does the stone of allure gain anything by having it's level increased?

^^No price mentioned, but keep a look out in forums after the preview shard is updated and someone post the amount here. But from blue to purple is probably not cheap.

Mostly like just ioun stone's stats increased. I will be surprised if they add a passive ability for the stone at rank 30.

There is already a purple ioun stone in game. It doesn't have a passive at 30.

Is there any difference between allure and might other than the extra equipment slot? Do the stats which increase on the companion carry forward to the stats given to the player? Will upgrading a might make it equivalent to an allure?

In the patch notes for the preview shard, they mention giving all companions a passive for hitting level 30.

You may want to hold off on buying a stone until more people experiment with the preview shard. There may end up being large differences between the passives given to Stone of Allure, Stone of Might, and the Cat.
