If it is, what would be best? tank, healer, 3 different dps to get all abilities and buffs OR tank, healer, 3 same dps (so you can do the same abilities) OR 5x the same class (dps) so you can just all do the same.

Make us all a favour and dont ask stupid questions. We both know the answer.

I'm not sure whether it would be allowed, but given how targeting works, would multiboxing be at all effective?

I haven't gone through the entire thread to see if a PWE / Cryptic staffer ever replied (yet), but you can sift through the thread - Is multi-boxing allowed and can it be done
Edit - Finished going through... No replies from Cryptic / PWE.
Cryptic dont come here... here, in the dark abyss where rests their fanbase and customers... You might get lucky with a Tweet tho, even luckier still if you go via their Facebook.

Now now... they come here... when the planets align and such... Just... you know... not often.

I suspect if you do it without any sort of macros or automation it would be acceptable. If for no other reason that you would have to be "at the keyboard" for all boxes and therefore doing nothing wrong. Or nothing detectably wrong.
However, with the combat system as it is. I know of no simple way to play several characters effectively without macros or automation. Making the point fairly moot and meaning you will always be at some level of risk. Even if by some feat of multi-tasking magic you could pull it off solo and "atk" for all boxes. You would still most likely be suspected of botting and reported. So its really a no win.
can't detect it anyway, no different than hubby/wife or roomates or hell, a building full of dorm kids playing from same IP.
haven't tried all combos but yeah it's hard. best results was cw/dc - cw had to do nothing but steal time/icy terrain and AS/shield pop, cleric actually did most single target DPS lol.. and drop circle(s) of course. but bosses are basically impossible. maybe 3 with Gf/cw/dc but good luck controlling 3 guys at once.
It's a free game. You can have as many accounts as you wish. You can play those accounts at the same time. You just can't login with the same account more than once.
There's nothing against logging in with multiple accounts. If there was, then none of us would be able to login and play together.
So, the real question is...will the game client launch more than once on the same machine. I haven't tried it with NW, but it does work with STO.

The only issue I have with multi-boxing is when 1 person tries to bring 2 or more of their alternates onto a team at the same time. If they are up front about it straight away, and the others agree that it's ok, fine. However, if you're running a dungeon or other team content, and they don't disclose that info, then you're basically playing with 2 "half-characters", as neither can be given the same kind of attention that 2 separate people playing 2 separate characters, can provide.
If you're just soloing, knock yourself out...

Yeah, i don't want to go screw up random people, i would go with a full party of 5 characters (Gonna be challenging to control in Neverwinter!)
