Is this update as bad as I think it is?

So to prepare for this patch I planned a couple of events with the guild so we could have 20 on and do some 20man dungeons, and it turns out that you can only do it during the 30 minute event that shows up every.. 5? hours.
How am I supposed to organise my guild to log on on a specific time with 20 man at a time, if I can't tell more than a day ahead when the event is up?
That, combined with alchemy supplies/assets being unsearchable on AH really make me question whether or not I should spend any more time on this game.
The game has been great so far, but this "release" patch seems super sloppy and not thought through at all, and was an instant bonerkill the second I logged in today..
EDIT:
Also: is it true that whether unlock T1 or T2 is based on YOUR FACTION's performance, and not solely your own groups? In other words, after the first day everyone joins the winning faction and that's the only faction that will ever unlock T2?
