No HP for Tanks

Granted there are a few pieces of equipment that give half decent hp, the main stat for tanking gear is defense. The "best" tanking gear has no hitpoints at all. I see completely stacked guardian fighters with max con walking around with 35k hp, and I think to myself "That's how much my control wizard has in his pvp gear."

Is this a good thing? No. I won't play a tank until they get some hp gear in the game.

Can you link your CW with 35k hp?

I KNOW! WTF! I mean my TR has 45k HP and can out tank and out damage ANY Class wearing all blues and I didnt even put anything in con...

I bet your single person strike from playing a tank class has them REALLY scared... I would watch my back cryptic/PWE! 1 person isnt going to play one of your classes! He will most likely play one of the other 4 many hours a day, but not the tank! Get your act together!

Listen.... the point of my post was not that I'm K-RAD 3l33t with a freakin CW with 35k hp, and of course it's not impossible...

BECAUSE ANY CLASS CAN HAVE THAT MANY HP! My point is, tanks should have access to gear with better hitpoints than other classes do, and they don't.

who cares about hit points if you arent loosing any?
mitigation is always more important than a big health pool after that, damage for agro then more mitigation,

Because this game is not designed in a way that allows you to avoid all damage.

And I've said it many times, all classes having the same base amount of HP is ridiculous, even ignoring the whole D&D aspect (that is barely present).

a big health pool only matters if you are getting one shot without it... and you arent.

maybe if the items that grant extra max health benefittet from feats and the like it would be a viable choice.

of course you wont be able to mitigate all of the damage, that would simply not be fun nor fair but thats what life steal and regen is for, which is why you will see these stats rather than extra health on "tanking" sets and items.

Funny thing is that he's almost right..

CW and Guardians, and well every class get the exact same base hp.
Guardians and CW get the exact same feats to up hp - toughness (9%).
No good guardian armor has hp on it. (pvp sets junk)

But yea guardians *can get more hp because of one detail:
Con isn't a primary stat for wizards, so the game won't allow you to start with a max number.
Only other difference is shirt/pants - best guardian stuff has 300ish hp, wizards have none.

So yea max for a guardian - non in pvp gear, is probably around 35-36k.
Max for a wizard isn't far off tho, around 30k at least.

GWFs are the real top "tank" class tho, since a lot of there better armor, and even there weapon/offhand can have a huge bonus to hit points on them. EG: Your guild leader who has 38k hp.. And hes no max con build. Max con gwf could have what, 40k?

Kinda unbalanced imo since defense has huge diminishing returns, while hp does not.

Makes GWFs be FAR tankier, faster, and yet still deal more dps makes them pretty beast in pvp.

Tho on the flipside, guardians remain a better overall pve class, simply due to stronger and more useful powers, and the fact block is better then sprint for pve.

Finally, someone that sees my point. Thank you. The fact that you agree with me is bonus points.

The biggest thing is that Con greatly helps a GF where as noone wants a CW with high Con, that would be stupid. So while MAX hp is about a 5k difference, most GF dont max hp and most CW dont max hp. The typical difference is a CW with what roughly 25k HP (in T2) and 31k HP with a GF in T2... so AROUND 5k-6k GP out of what 25k? Thats a 20-24% difference in JUST hp. HP isnt the "BEST" tank stat, defense and deflection play a huge part in this as well. So I would wager a GF has what atleast 10% damage reduction and more in deflection...

Also the BIGGEST factor is that a GF can block AND has a daily that will full heal AND has a passive that will heal....

so while CW health is CLOSE in value... I have not met a CW that can even come close to "tanking" anything...
