[Rage] How does the AH bidding system even worked?!!

Twice, I saw the bidding down to 45seconds, and my bid button got grey out. So naturally I thought you can't submit any more bid after the item is expiring in 45sec.

But just now, I had the winning bid down to 7 second, and my bidding button is grey-out, and someone outbid it at 7th second? Needless to say I am upset.

What the hell is wrong with the system? Can the dev please clean it up!?!?!

    HI Yramrag

Just a post to support your complaint. It really sucks wasting time monitoring stuff you really want and not having a fair shot at winning it. I actually havent been ably to win any item because of this error.

I've been outbid before 2 minutes after time expired (time read minus two minutes and then some, last bid listed as mine, end result was someone else bid after the time expired and I lost the bid). My only conclusion is they allow some people to bid after bid clocks expire for everyone else.

I am also a bit confused at how this works, I have been sniped on enough bids that I no longer bid on anything. If I don't think the buyout price is worth it, I just move on.

well i have won almost all the biddings since i started (14/16) and those 2 that i lost where cause of the system even i lost the first one cause i did not understand that every outbid of mine would take away my AD so at some point i was out of AD to continue bidding and all of it was in the Mail lol.

my recomendation, when you are bidding do not use your phone the time it take sthe phone to adjust will make the bidding inacurate if the item that you want a lot of people is looking for it.

always refresh before bidding, usually if you do not refresh another bid could have gone in place before you that would would make you lose you Ad intsnatly cause you will be outbidded in the same instant that you place your bid (cause another was already in place.

make sure you are not running anything else while bidding in your computer (that includes the game itself) some say that bidding within the game is better, however i can tell you that for some reason that made me lose my 2nd item i saw some time of discrepancy, probably the server is working and converting stuff for us to be able to do them also in the gateway (and not the way around) this also seems to happen with profession but is more accurate in game not sure why.

take into account your ping time when bidding, ping time will let you know the amount of time you can have for a refresh and a a bidding.

    these are my numbers:

time it takes for refresh 5 -7 seconds, in my case i can refresh the page and bid just 5 seconds before the time ends this will probably leave no room for others to be able to do the same. at that point if 2 users Bid with the las bid available in the last second the first one that enters the system (less ping time) will be the winner but in my case i have won most of them.
Everything works out in the end . If it hasn't worked out yet, it isn't the end...

Learning to use the AH is a skill. I say I win 40%-50% of my bids. There's a lot of strategy and timing.

The clock isn't over. I've found that (most of the time), once it hits 59 secs, you cannot bid again. Sometimes it's 55 or whatever. I use a stopwatch once it hits a minute and try to time to my best ability. Then I spam bids like crazy. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. I wish it was more consistent, as I'm often on the losing side.

The markets are tough. Try trading in real life. It's harder.

I just waited until 15s and placed my bid - or that's what I wanted to do. Would be cool, if there'd be a warning or something.
Anyways, lesson learned. (Why prohibit bidding for t=<59s anyways?! Just end the auction 1min earlier ffs)

a fix to all of this would be to allow players to bid as they do at current but only allow concealed bidding during the last hour, basically you can get into a bidding war down to an hour's time and then the bid price would stop going up and when the last hour expires whomever bid the highest would win (concealed or not)... this would likely make more for those placing their lots and would allow players to place concealed bids at any time

i just ran into the same problem ... 3 auctions, all in the same time frame, 2 minutes left. i was outbid and immediately rebid. the timer dropped down to 30 seconds, i kept refreshing and watching my bid page and watching the mailbox, then they showed expired (and my bid button was grayed out after it got under a minute). i thought ok, won those, because it usually doesn't let me bid on an item under a minute. almost 5 minutes later, they popped up in my mail that i had been outbid and lost all 3. what gives ... is there a certain cut-off time at all?

After a couple bad experiences I am now a declared fan of buy-outs.

iirc, bids are no longer accepted when there's a minute left. you have to have your timing down because you likely have to close the AH window and reopen it to see any new bids in the last few minutes before you can't bid anymore. the bid tab itself does not instantly refresh when there is a new bid nor does your email light up right when your bid is returned to you. it's not really a great system to try to bid-snipe with. you're better off waiting for the right buy-out price and using the buy-out option. you may also try timing your bids on items that end mid week rather than the weekend. good luck.

The problem is that the gateway interface allows bidding well after the in-game UI locks it out (30-60 seconds or so). So someone using the gateway to "snipe" auctions will always be able to beat someone using the in-game ui. But it gets better... the gateway interface is apparently easy to "bot" (it's just a web page), so even human gateway bid snipers will lose on the big ticket items to the AH bots, that can (literally) rebid faster than humanly possible. The only way to trip THOSE up is to use the gateway (and get lucky), or use the gateway, overbid something twice, quickly... and hope you get lucky.

Seriously annoyed at the way they implemented the AH actually... the only people who will consistently win anything even moderately underpriced are the ones who cheat and use theoretically-not-allowed automation.

This ain't an auction house but a bot farming tool.

Any auction house would prolong the bidding period after a bid by a minute to allow all interested parties to increase the price even further. (making the 10% AD sink more profitable for PWE)
As it is currently implemented it is a sniper-BOT heaven. As long as not enough voices are raised to change it into an auction house as such there will be no change.

This game's ah is...weird. I always imagine some people in some third world country somewhere whose "job" is to sit in front of the computer screen and do nothing but watch the timer and bid all day. I have better things to do.

Am also a big fan of buy-outs. If I can't afford it, I either wait or move on.
