Sideways running glitch when logging in with an XBOX controller

I like to use my xbox controller combined with xpadder to play this game. I log in with my controller connected, and usually I find my character running sideways (usually left) with no ability to stop it. Movement keys just change the angle of the run (i.e. north/south west instead of straight west). All except s key, which stops running but doesn't go backwards like it should. In other words, the game is unplayable. When I enter any menu, such as the Esc menu, I find the selection cursor just scrolling up or down constantly.
Things that have not worked:
Unplugging my xbox controller while logged on. It's not a calibration/deadzone issue.
Logging out. Upon returning to the main menu/character selection screen, there is NO constant scrolling of the menus or any other noticeable glitch, but when I log in again, the glitch shows up again.
Things that have worked:
Completely shutting down the game via alt+f4 or exiting with the menu, and then logging into the game WITH THE CONTROLLER UNPLUGGED. Once the world is loaded and the home screen shows up, I can plug in my controller with no problem. Then I have no further issues till I completely shut down the client again. It's only a problem with the first login of a gaming session (and every other one till you shut off the game if the first one glitched).
What's odd is that this doesn't always happen, but it USUALLY happens.
Also, I tried to report this bug via the /bug command, but once I sent it, it said "could not connect to customer service, please try again later or use the forums."
This bug has been going on for a couple months now... cause that's how long I've been playing this game.
