First I'd like to say I love this game, the combat is nice, fast pace & original but plagued by a few things. For a young OB, there is content, maybe not if you’re the "rushing hardcore" type, then the content will be done shortly. But for me it was decent. Plus more is said to come on the terms of 20+ man Dungeons and PvP so let's see about what the future holds before jumping the gun. And in all honesty the D&D "skin" is just icing on the cake since I'm familiar with some "Iconic" D&D "lore" even if only a little.
So far I paid around 100$ for this game, Guardian pack + some cash shopping. I have no regret, its only 100$ and I had a reasonable amount of entertainment per hour VS $$$/per hours. So the cost isn't the problem, well it's part of it, but only a little, this is all "budget" related and some of us care more/less about a few dollars.
A problem is this being a beta, and the lack of Cryptic/PWE transparency over which bugs they are aware of and which bugs are going to be fixed. And the fact that most the community is being left in the dark about the bugs we do report.
My experience so far with in-game reports:
4 Exploits. Not as game breaking as the AD/AH one, or the client side stamina points. But definitively they can be used to gain advantages, mainly in combat.
So far I've reported around 6 bugs, from minor to major to plain ridiculous.
I've requested a GM, once.
This is where it starts to get pretty funny,
Not one of those 11 submissions were ever answered, I can't track them since they don't seem to register. I've tried to use the search for similar bug function, it never returns any results under any category, whatever I type in, there is never a "similar known bug"…weird ? I say unlikely.
So I guess a top priority bug would be fixing the Request a GM/Submit a ticket function. But after a month into the game… it doesn't seem.
The only "efficient" way and "efficient" is used very loosely here is on the forums… yeah you know how forums are "organised" and "nothing" never gets lost on them… they are the most reliable form of report ever… (By this time your Sarcasm-O-Meter should have exploded)
So I turned to the forums, and maybe contact support directly for extreme cases.
After hitting 60 in 5 days by doing Quest & PvP at about 6-12 hours a day. (I done 1 foundry quest from 1-59, the one for the quest that ask for you to do one, I started enjoying them at 60 for the original content, so no QQ about foundry exp exploit, I didn't bother using it since it was mind numbing.)
So I've been doing this 1 PvP Mode with 2 maps, those 12 Epic Dungeons and this 1 Skirmish for already 3 weeks now.
All I have left to do in the game is stumble upon a countless amount of bugs/exploits that can't be reported efficiently and mostly even if reported on the forums, seems to be left "ignored".
Worst, some peoples are getting banned for absolutely no other reasons than having reported an Abuse/Exploit.
Don't get into the "yeah but they used it, that's why the ban", BS ! How can you find & test an abuse/exploit without using it, at least a little. A big part of testing is how to reproduce a bug/exploit, if this would really be a beta, like a lot of peoples are screaming everywhere this would be considered before swinging the ban hammer, on peoples trying to help. All this AD/AH thing got public for this exact reason it was reported countless times, in countless manners, on countless places, in alpha, CB, OB… even other games using the same code. This can be verified a bit everywhere now.
I wasn't the target of any ban so far, but in all honesty, I stopped reporting Abuse/Exploits, and report only bugs. Too bad, I just don't want to get banned for "using" "exploits", and I sure don't want to get banned for "exposing" them. But, you can randomly encounter 1 in almost all the dungeons if not more than 1, and a lot of things are broken/wrong with Daily/Encounter/Passive/Feat, some not working at all other working "too well".
To sum it all, I'm the kind of guy that would rather pay a 40$ expansion each 3-6 months, +10-15$ subscription fee, simply because there is a form of engagement over time for "Quality VS Money". You want more money ? Give more quality, simple. You know "walking together towards a common goal" I want fun, You want money, let's get there at the right pace.
So considering this:
Release of a subscription base MMO: 40-60$ + 1 Free Month.
3 month of subscription at 10-15$/Month = 30-45$.
Total: 70-105$
Not bad for a "beta" there is a lot of willingly paying customers. Giving more than a subscription based MMO would cost.
But the way things are, its rushed. Rush the content out, rush the money in.
BTW I could pay an Alt, but I'd had to pay again for all the unlocks I have on my other level 60, bags & bank slots... No thanks sorry. (no the first pay wasn't a typo for play )
I will come back around the end of August. The only thing I’ll be doing till then with Neverwinter is carefully read the patch notes. And hope for a better future. Anyway I paid 4 month worth of subscription, my lost for the moment, let's see by the end of the summer if this game will be re-included as part of my "budget".
