Avast Antivirus reaction to game

Just want to add something here that I thought was strange. My Avast virus protection thought the game was a virus yesterday and deleted the whole game instantly. I even asked it not to do so, and it did as it pleases. Don't know why it would react so badly. I've been playing the game this whole time with it. Anyways, I changed back to Microsoft Security Essentials and all is well after re-installing the game. Just wanted to get that out there to warn others. And maybe let ya'll know it was happening. I work on computers, and my computer is clean (and brand new). So I have no idea why that happened. Wondering if it did that to anyone else?

Check to see if there is a program update... 8.0.1489 is the latest update to the Avast AV program. This may require you to manually check for the update which can be done by right-clicking the Avast Icon and clicking Update > Program . Once I downloaded and installed the program update and rebooted my pc (required after the install) I had no further issues between Avast and the Neverwinter.exe.

I had this problem and it was an easy fix. Rather than reinstalling the game and getting rid of avast, just follow these steps:

    1. Open avast and go to your File System Shield.
    2. Click the Settings button.
    3. Click Exclusions on the left side of the panel.
    4. Click the Add button on the list of Exclusions and add the file path of your Neverwinter folder (default is C:\Users\Public\Games\Cryptic Studios)
    5. Enjoy!

    (Edit)
It is worth noting that Malware Bytes, Bit Defender, and avast all came up clean after scanning the Cryptic Studios folder manually, so it's a simple false flag.
