Entering/exiting maps in party is ridiculous

So im in a party, the party is spread around the map and we all need to meet up at the same place to begin the quest but i cannot travel anywhere whilst still in party without all party members being with me?! This is dumb. Why cant i enter a dungeon/map/quest ahead of the rest of the party?
