Start the cryptic launcher, go to options, check "Disable on demand patching" let it download the rest of the game. This works for STO, Champions, and neverwinter. It will no longer patch any files while playing the game.
as I read on the STO forum, someone said this should be default. And it should. Patching while playing sucks, and everyone knows that it sucks.
