[Question] How to make an attack-able inanimate object?

Was searching the forum but can't find something similar.

How can we make an inanimate object, like a rock, attack-able by the player?

For example to destroy a statue, or something.

I thought of hiding a solo mob in the statue, but that seems like such a weird workaround.

I believe you can only attack encounters. If you hid a solo mob in the object it would get bugged and may not even be attackable. You could ... MAYBE... customize a solo mob to LOOK like your object.

You want to attack a chest? There is a mimic skin you can use on encounters... of course, the chest will have teeth and a tongue... but that is as close as it is going to get. Statues... you have to really play around with that one... i am not sure...

maybe make a NPC into a statue looking item... inspect the item and have it say something... make it disappear with that specific dialogue and reappear as a mob that is skinned as the npc that is pretending to be a statue... is another option - maybe?

This is something that is done by Cryptic in official content.

/adds it to the list of thing the Foundry can't do but official content does.

Pretty much. Always need to keep in mind what the Foundry will let you do, what can be worked around, and what simply can't be done. If you post ideas here people will tell you if it's workable or not, and how to get it to work if it is. Attacking placeables is something that can't be done right now.

Some ghosts kinda of look like statues... it is something that will be hard to implement... if not impossible... after some thought i would do something like this:

Talk to statue... statues says a specific dialogue, "I AM ALIVE"
make the texture of the statue disappear based on that specific dialogue option... and then make the an enemy encounter that best looks like that statue appear based on that specific dialogue option. If the statue is one of the suits of armor... then the encounter should be a warrior with plate armor skin, for example.

It would not be an attack, but there and full and broken forms of statues you could set to disappear on interact and then show the broken pieces. You could probably chain a light blast in there between the two actions. You could spawn a mob when the statue breaks.
