I have a dual core cpu running at 2.4GHz and a lower end graphics card and it runs just fine on mine. so I know its not his cpu. kinda bull**** ya know :/ cause now I cant play the game with him

I have a Zambezi. Game works fine

Although under 3d gaming that get incredibly hot. I have a huge air cooled push pull system and my cpu heats up so much that after a month or two it's dried up the heatsink compound and loses the ability to remove the heat. i have a protection in the bios and the PC just shuts down. If your friend has no temperature trip set it could easily go to blue screen . It depends upon the error code generated. Most blue screens are down to faulty memory modules. Could be anything but it's not the game ( although the calls the game is making may trigger this and something faulty is failing ).
The cpu is more than good enough. Tell your friend to reseat the cpu and replace the compound with some decent silver paste then check his cooling is adequate and keep an eye on the temps as he games. They do run hot, no question. I have to reseat mine again, to game right now I have the side off and a 240v room fan blasting air over it. But that's just a lazy short-term fix.
check the blue screen error code to at least get an idea where the error is coming from.

It could also be his GPU. I've sent thousands of dollars worth of gpu cards to the dump because eventually or even quite soon, they just go ***'s up.
