Dungeon delve only for queue?

Does the dungeon delve only work when you queue for it? Or can you just enter through the front door and have dungeon delve activate the end chest?

You can walk through the front door. You have to go in after the delve event has started.

As long as you enter the dungeon via queue or front door after the dungeon delve bonus starts and are still in the dungeon if that period has ended. Then you should be able to clear it, kill the final boss, and unlock the gold/dragon chest at the end.

Also, does it matter if you are level'd to the dungeon or not?
