I had checked this thread out to hopefully find some informative discussion on wizard PvP success.. But half of this is pointless arguing over pointless posts..

    Back on track.

Do you know how much the debuff is? Is there any way to find the percentage? Also, are there any other strong combinations?

I've been experimenting with oppressor maximum ice CC in PvP. I see a lot of potential with a SM-Conduit of Ice (spellmastery/tab) and Icy Terrain but its still a bit too slow to freeze enemies. (Currently level 35). I'm hoping when I get Glacial Movement, it'll change that. SM-Icy Terrain or Chill Strike are also really tempting though. Sidenote: Why does Ice Rays have such a bad reputation?

Edit: After reading epicerlol's ungodly amusing posts, I retract my "pointless" and replace with semi-pointless. That's actually an interesting, intelligent counterargument.

Oppressor looks good on paper, but it just doesn't work in PvP. I messed around with a cold build for a bit and I found it takes to long to consistently get 6 stacks without gimping your damage with RoF. Also, while Icy Terrain works well in PvE, in PvP no one is going to stick around that ice patch long enough to get frozen, not to mention it won't really help you fight other CWs from range.

My experience doing lvl 60 PvP is that CC is only really worth it if you're a rogue (knockdown, daze, aoe daze). CWs' only reliable CC in PvP is EF. Our other CCs are either too situational, have a long cast time, or last less than a second. Even if you were to spec for CC, an additional 20-30% of 1 second is still not worth the it. Repel, and knockdowns in general, aren't diminished as much, but again they are very situational for us CWs. As far as Ice Rays, it has a bad reputation because it kinda sucks for PvE, and that's what most people do. Ice Rays is actually quite good in PvP.

So basically, you're better off going for the extra damage with either Renegade or Thaumaturge.

Instead of trying to got into what to spec into with what and which benefits which, please read this post by another player. He posted this thread not long after I tried to start this one and I was pleased that he was on the page and it kind of verified what I had found in my testing. It's on the first page of threads so you may have already read it so forgive me if you have:

I can't give you numbers on the debuff percentages but I can say with a reasonable amount of confidence that the renegade tree with RoE has been a game changer for me. I strongly encourage you to try it, I don't think you will be disappointed!
