I find CW underwhelming

I felt the class was good 35-55. Then in the last 5 levels the enjoyment has really gone out of the class for me.

I feel like i'm playing more like the rogue class should be. I'm porting all over the place, i'm strafing away, i'm jumping around. It all feels acrobatic and unlike a mage.

I'm also using a lot more pots every fight where I don't use a daily.

Now before you go all LRN2P I have continued to beat rogues dps in dungeons during the levelling process.I have played casters through many mmos. I read the forums I look at the build strats and I play the class.

I've gone through a number of different setups using combinations of cc and dps options.

What I have found watching people fighting mobs in Underdark that the clerics and rogues just faceroll and plenty of times come away with full health. I can tell a CW fight easily because they are the toon jumping around all over the place.

Now I get the whole glass canon thing but where is the cannon or where is the control. Faced with 4 plus mobs with a mixture of ranged and melee with gap closing abilities I know I will take damage before any of my CC goes off ie steal time 3secs and I have to be in close range for it to go off.

Now I understand that you cant increase the CC too much or it trivialise the play but maybe you could buff the damage mitigation through a passive "spell"

Any other CW feel the same way.

I'm a CW. I feel being able to perma CC one mob through 1 encounter power(entangling force)+ timed ray of frost(if it's a lone mob noone damages) while having time to drop 3 other encounter powers for pure CC, and a daily if really needed is more than enough CC in there. You said you tried different combinations of cc and dps, did you try full cc, and if so how?

Timing and fast decision making is crucial when you play full CC to maximise your potential. Makes a huge difference.

4 mobs with ranged and melee? if it's 2 melee 2 ranged, you can choke a ranged, burst the other one down, push the melees as they arrive to gain some time. 4 isn't much trouble not to get hurt. I only use potions in dungeons.

i find the shield spell underwhelming so far. Infact, i am not sure if it even absorbs over 100 damage.

As for pve, i have no issues. Though i am only 29.

I believe the OP's problem is that he's not doing enough damage as a CW. While the CW can be built to do damage, it's primary function is as a controller, not a striker. It will never do as much damage as a TR or other striker as isn't intended to. If damage is what's important to the OP (because he mentions being top DPS in dungeons), I suggest he either play TR or wait until they release the Scourge Warlock. Whenever that will be. As for control, I've found that the CW single target controls like a champ. It's when you get multiples that it can become a problem. I would agree that the CW may need to have more AoE control powers.

Spec aoe burst powers through hero feats and buff the avalanche power through the middle tree (along with icy ray). Put conduit of ice on tab. Start with conduit into avalanche. Then rock ray of enf and icy ray for high single target damage. Also, feel free to pvp some to level :).

Here's my spec I posted in this post:

Gave in to that momentary sadistic twitch...

Post 50 I was running with CS tabbed, steal time, COI and ROE with MM and ROF.

I overlooked the capabilities of Shard of the endless avalanche. I'm opening with that it knocks them all prone then Teleport and steal time. If anyone is alive after that combo CS FTW.

I am also speccd into the renegade tree which means my dailies do proc often. I think this is a good workaround. Thanks for the feedback above.
