NPC's fighting eachother

I am trying to get an NPC to defend itself against an encounter. I have a point in my quest where you are saving an NPC from an encounter and the encounter attacks the NPC but the npc does not fight back. Any way to do this?

    Use a guard encounter and change the costume to that of your NPC, it's the only way they will actively fight back. However I can not remember if there is a single actor guard encounter or not. Happy Authoring!
