I was apart of the Closed beta (thanks to my lifetime sub to STO), and was impressed with what was done within the game thus far. Now we're in Open Beta, and I log in, and my previous progress has been wiped away. I'm really looking forward to playing this game and reach the end game content, however, I don't want to do so with the threat of another wipe coming down the road.
Now, rambling up there aside, Can you let us know when the official release date is going to be? If not that, then can you answer whether or not characters will be wiped once more between now and official Launch.
There will be no more wipes, they officially stated this already quite a few times on their FB page alone. So play away and enjoy

::sigh:: Ok, slowly. For the 75th time its been posted here.
There will be no wipe between open beta and official launch.
They have gone for a soft launch which is they brought the game up live in beta state and have declared it's open beta. at some point 3 - 9 months or longer in the future they will decide it is ready for launch and declare it live. Maybe with fanfare maybe without.
See at this point they don't anticipate changing any of the core game systems in significant ways. Instead they have several months worth of details to add. For example all of clothing/armor items I've found from the start into the 30's is grey on grey. Given that the control wizard orbs have picked up personality I expect to see the same for gear appearance.
All of the classes only have 1 paragon pathway at the moment, though reports are that alpha had more pathways. So those need to be added.
There are clearly plans to add more races and classes. And there are lots of other areas where things simply need more work and simply more.

Thank you very much, and my apologies for asking a very much repeated question. I spent 2 hours earlyer today trying to find anything in regards to this, but apparently I was looking in the wrong place.
The only thing that is going to happen after "launch" is that PWE will restrict what you can to in f2p and to get more you will need to subscribe. Which believe is their standard f2p model.
If anything after "launch" the pay to level model will get much more expensive then it is now.

That sounds like paranoia talking. You can get that treated you know.

I believe it is in the FAQ but it did come out a bit harsher sounding on rereading than I intended. Sorry about that I try to keep the ssnark under control but don't always manage.

This is not true. Nothing about the model is changing on "release."
(BTW, this is *not* a soft-launch, any more than it's an open beta. /end of PSA, please return to abusing terms.)
"Participation in PVP-related activities is so low on an hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly basis that we could in fact just completely take it out of STO and it would not impact the overall number of people [who] log in to the game and play in any significant way." -Gozer, Cryptic PvP Dev
Its the same in STO and CO and RH (rusty hearts). Not to say this will but it is their standard model.
STO and CO were subscription games first that then converted to F2P. It's in the FAQ http://nw.perfectworld.com/about/faq that no subscription is going to be in NW.

then explain what will change after "launch"?
If nothing changes then this is not a beta.
I fully expect subs with f2p being limited after the "launch". It's not paranoia but business. If the sub model flops then they rescind it.

Wrong. In the normal course of events nothing changes between the end of open beta and launch. Though there have been exceptions and those exceptions have been harshly criticized.
I don't expect anything to change after "launch" than that there will be more equipment models, more classes, more races, more paragon paths, more quests, and more items for sale. Basically more of what was there at the start of this open beta.
