And this is why this is open beta and not finished released. Yes I fully expect to see the weapon/armor models expand over time and get released into the game. I'm actually certain that is a project someone is currently working on.
For all practical purposes Open beta IS release in MMOs, the cash shop is open, people are buying what they are selling and what they are selling is for the game in it's current state. The ammount of equipment models there are is inxecusable open beta or otherwise.

THS!
Considering the customisation on STO and CO from cryptic its like they took 2 steps forward and 10 steps back.
Trying to use the dyes as a money making exercise totally fubar-ed the customisation potential.
It would make far more sense to have a costume designer like STO or CO and charge for costume tokens in the zen store/astral diamonds. Maybe make the tokens cheap and they can fully customise (looks and colour) one item per token or make the tokens more expensive (maybe combined with the current character appearance change token) and give one full customisation. Perhaps as you gain armour pieces they unlock costume options (much like CO). This also gives them the potential to add more combat costume packs in the zen store. Overall they would make far more money and people would be far happier with the appearance options.
I like that this game is different but why change something for change sake. If it aint broke dont fix it and CO has one of the best costume designers in all MMO's.
On one hand I am noticing that if you know how, there is pretty massive diversity in how your character looks and performs. Did a skirmish yesterday with a cleric that looked like a combination of Bronson (the Tim Hardy movie) and Blaster from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. It didn't heal anything but it topped in damage and kills. Mess with the dyes, mess with the "undergarments", you can achieve a pretty cool look.
That being said, yes there does need to be more diversity in how armors look. Another game I used to play (a newer mmo) had "adaptive gear" that was pretty much usable by any level past 10. The catch was the stats of this gear came almost entirely from the "mods" that were placed in it, which in NW would be enchantments. So when you finally found a set of adaptive gear that you really liked you could keep it all the way through the game and just upgrade the mods. Would love to se something like that in NW but have the cost for removing an enchantment be Gold or at least be lessened by specific professions ranks.
