I can agree with the most, but I can't really agree with what you say about the graphics. I've seen much better. The textures are detailed but the 3D models are very "edgy" so to say :P
My only issue with graphics are the zoomed in voice over graphics. The voices are good, but they didn't do much to make NPC facial animations look realistic. This is one thing that SWTOR did well.

nicely put fanma lol. Im enjoying the game ive waiteda long time for it and im sure as hell not going to bug out in the frst five minutes because of a few opening issues that im sure will be resolved
Woops! Gender error noted. I'm the same, often lost and confused but a heck of a lot happier than the typical poster who should probably lay off the caffeine. They should take the forums down during server down time. People take out their frustration not being able to play and switch to "Forum Wars". I admit, I'm occasionally sucked in to them too.
I get sucked in too. Wish I didn't. The thing that makes me honestly sad is the thought that perhaps these people may be sad IRL and are taking it out in game. I worry about that, because I was a geeky gamer growing up LONG before it became kinda cool. I was mocked by the 'jocks', I was laughed at by the 'burn outs', I was despised by the 'youth group kids' (because D&D is of the devil, dontcha know?). I grew up an outsider too. So I know what it is to be frustrated with your life. I pray that these folks are not unhappy irl.
And if they are, I just want to say - pardon what is now becoming a cliche - It gets better. It does.

I guess what I really meant was that the art is beautiful! The world is gorgeous. I honestly would not want the graphics to be too good because it would prohibit many people from playing the game due to graphics card issues.

Here's a non fanboys opinion and rating based on my time in NWO.
*Foundry: Bland and boring. Good to waste time when there's nothing left to do, and believe me at 60 there's nothing to do. Needs it's own rewards to remain a viable point of interest for those bored with the game. 5/10
*Graphics: Would win awards for best graphics in an MMORPG 2005. Textures pop in, invisible walls stop us from truly exploring and everything is instanced. 5/10
*Story: The voice acting is beyond dreadful so reading the quest text was impossible to bare. Lets not forget to mention npc's that just wont shut up if you're standing near them. I'm sure the story is riveting, engaging and amazing...0/10
*Currency: HAMSTER. 3 main currencies with one being redundant. Gold is useless and cannot be exchanged for AD or Zen. AD takes a long time to farm (with restrictions) normally and everything, and i do mean most of everything uses this. Game seriously needs a retinkering to give layers illusion of choice. Allow us to craft our own bags while we pay to unlock bag slots etc
Cryptic please go check GW2 and come back. 0/10
Races: Cool variety I guess, but streamlined into forced classes if you chek their stat bonuses etc. The Drow and other exclusive are the dumbest idea since Cryptic chose to use PWE as it's publisher. 6/10
*Zen shop: Too in your face and everything from respeccing to unlocking slots rely on this. Ruined the game. 0/10
There you have. A more than honest review on NWO as it stands.
Flame away.
Got to agree on the voice acting, really childish stuff makes me cringe and the graphics, especially the character models are sub par.
Not for me this game "shuts the door on the way out"
I like the game and think they did an excellent job so far. At first it bothered me the game is instanced because I love exploring the open area's, but I also love dungeons. The dungeons are a blast in this game and have been loving the epic runs. The game is just beautiful imo if you take the time to really check out some of the area's and the detail they put into them.
This will be my go to game for some time as long as they keep pumping out new classes and dungeons for us to run. Good job Cryptic!
There you have. A more than honest review on NWO as it stands.
I agree with Breatha, and have had the same impressions. A week later, I still feel exactly that way. Maybe it's an age thing! Us older folks have had more time to discover the value and power of appreciation, and the pointlessness of dragging everything down and finding fault in everything and everyone. (I'd rather be twenty and negative than over forty and appreciative, though! ) Opinions are always honest, but they are almost never universal or meaningful to those who have different perspectives and preferences.
I also have an eye on the wolf mount. Actually, I would already have purchased the medium version if I knew for sure it can be upgraded to tier 3 (costs 2M AD, which is fine; I bought up 15M at the maximum exchange rate and still have the 2.6M from the two founder packs). I generally prefer mounts without armor for my characters. Back in WoW, I took a week off at work (around release) so I could farm the gold for an armor-less tiger before they removed it (when mounts cost 1000g and people had about 20).
Foundry:
A great way to keep things fresh. I got great XP out of the one I did last night, and a few items I could use. I love the rating system too. I just wonder, at 60(lvl cap), will there be any incentive at all to do these? Id like an answer to this!
Just wait and see: foundry encounter get *exponentially* more difficult as you level-up. In fact, new Foundry authors are having to scale-back their encounters because higher level players are complaining that quests are incomplet-able because they are potion-guzzlers and become the mop on the floor too often.
Graphics:
Eh, the graphics were OK, maybe a bit above OK. If you want astonishing graphics, see guild wars 2, or even Tera. To me, the graphics were slightly dated, especially the character models. The environmental graphics were even kind of...static and bland. Very pixelated. Only certain spots of gras swayed, bushes stood still.
I think the graphic quality is outstanding. is it the best there ever was or will be? No. But I don;t think that's as important as performance. Of course they *could* create the besets evar graphics in creation! And limit the player-base to only those with $3k computer systems, etc.
Frankly I think the graphics are stunning, considering the amazing performance I'm getting on a four-year-old PC running XP (and I do have my graphic quality customized to maximum everything).
Story:
I havent played enough of the story yet, but it seems OK. From what I've experienced, it was good enough to compliment.
I'll go with that. The "story" aspect is just enough motivation and context for "action" players. The deeper stories will come from the Foundry. For example (shameless plug) try my quest: "Blacklake Luskan" - I'm getting great reviews, but because it is so story-laden and requires more reading than the theme-park stuff of the official quests, it doesn't get a lot of plays.
But I'm okay with that. When (or if) you play it, you will see that I tie-in deeply with the existing Cryptic story in the Blacklake District. So the Cryptic stories, being as lightweight as they are, leave a lot of wonderful room for Foundry Authors to play off of those and fill-in, round-out and add to those Cryptic stories.
Currency:
As long as there only remains the three currencies, and they dont saturate the game with tons of currencies, like SWTOR or GW2, I will be OK with it.
I concur with this. But there also are "trading bars" and "Astral Coins" - where are ridiculously low-value. For example: Astral Coins (or whatever they are called) - you get only one per day, the first time you Invoke. You *must* invoke every day, or you lose what you've earned. Astral Coin Shop: Angel companion, cost: 360 Coins.
This is a practical impossibility: login every single day to invoke, for 360 contiguous and consecutive days in a row.
-Are you SERIOUS!?-
Races:
Interesting races with tiefling, drow, halfling. Nice amount to choose from, although wood elf and elf look the same and most people choose human. I didnt see one orc.
I've seen some Orcs. Most who play those are going for Great Weapon Fighter (A big, heavy Orc Trickster Rogue just doesn't conjure a convincing picture in my mind, as I imagine most other people).
The good news is that Cryptic will release new races and classes on a relatively regular basis. I would imagine at least two of each every 60-days or so.
Zen Shop:
TBD. I like that I can obtain everything via playing the game, but that you can buy your gear through the shop infuriates me. Its not P2win but close to it. This would be the thing that destroys the game for me if they are not careful.
Hardly close to anything "pay2win" because you can level from zero to 60 and then some without ever even looking at the Zen store. Everything there is 100% cosmetic or convenience. Now if you want to claim "pay2speed" or something along those lines: I'd go with that and call it a fair statement. But hardly play to win in any possible plausible definition of the term.
As for the Zen Store as it is as of this writing: excruciatingly limited. But that's understandable. It will fill-out nicely as time advances. I've already spent much there. Not to "win" anything, but for my own fun. I'm a HotN investor, I already have a Purple-grade Spider Mount and Panther companion. Yet I still purchased the "Sword Coast Armored Horse" because I'd prefer my Cleric and first alt (Guardian Fighter) ride a 'noble-looking steed'. I'm saving my Spider for my eventual Wizard and Drow characters (which may just be one character, I haven;t decided yet).
To the OP: I concur with you completely. Unfortunately there are a lot of "entitlement crybabies" and trolls in these forums. I hope Cryptic and the NW Devs see your post and take it to heart because I believe the silent majority feel the same way.

It is going to get a play after I have gotten some sleep, because this sounds intriguing!
I think the modules and campaigns created by players are the highlight of Neverwinter. As with NWN1 a decade ago, Neverwinter the MMO emphasis user-generated content, and by doing so not only opens the door for outstanding creations, but also ensures that the game will never become stale if you value experience and atmosphere over loot. (One can embrace more than one playstyle, too.)
I think it's curious when people comment on the lack of raids and bemoan how new MMOs never have enough end game content, when it is RIGHT HERE. Every time you play, you can have a new adventure! In a few months, there will probably be so many foundry quests that it would take months or years to play them all.
I held back on some of the longer campaigns because I didn't want to outlevel the normal content, but my wizard is 55 now and once he hits 60, I'll fully dive into foundry quests.
Got to agree on the voice acting, really childish stuff makes me cringe and the graphics, especially the character models are sub par.

Really? I'd not go back to being 20 years old for any money. Oh Lord, I've clawed my way tooth and nail to my age, and I've earned every single one of my gray hairs. I love being so crotchety that I will say any dang thing that I care to say and I won't apologize for it. I couldn't do that when I was 20, I was too self conscious.
And I never played WoW but I've taken time off of work to play games. I salute you and your dedication!
Oi, those trolls. Anyways, Breatha, kudos on your post. I agree with you; this game really took me by surprise. I've played lots of MMORPGs - LotRO, STO, DDO, TOR, WoW, SWG, etc. and this one has the most replay value. The Foundry was the thing I was most excited about, although the setting (Forgotten Realms) was already a hook for me. I haven't given the Zen Store a sure look yet (because I'm not entirely convinced these first characters will be permanent for me) but I sunk tons in LotRO for cosmetic things like mounts and clothing, and I'm not ashamed. If a game is good and rewarding for you, I totally support being a patron.
Current Server:Mindflayer
History Class in the Realms: "Elves did it better first. Also, magic was probably involved somehow and maybe gods. Or godly magic. Now go outside so the orcs and bandits have someone to menace."
Must agree with the OP. So far I've enjoyed myself so very much in this game. The character choice and creation options are super, and with new races & classes coming soon even more to look forward to. It really does make me think of the old D&D fun days.

There are two kinds of invoking coins. Ardent coins and Celestial coins. Only the Celestial coins disappear if you don't invoke each day. Those are the ones that you can only have a maximum of 7 coins anyway and all you are really getting are consumables of various kinds. They are rewarding you for playing on consecutive days but it is limited and the rewards are only ok. I really wouldn't worry about them much. if you know you can't play tomorrow, just be sure to grab the best item you can for the few celestial coins you might have.
The Ardent coins on the other hand don't decay, I think they did during an earlier beta weekend buy they changed it. These coins keep building up. These are the true veteran reward coins. These are the ones that you can buy mounts, companions and weapons with, including that Angel for 360. You don't have to log in every day for 360 days, you just have to play a total of 360 days (and not forget to invoke) before you can get it.
It would be nice if you could invoke though the gateway. Make it so that it will cost you a portable altar so that it has a small disadvantage but it would be a nice option for when you are unable to otherwise play.

Yeah this is how it was in beta weekends. But now I'm only seeing one coin - and it's the one that expires! LOL Where the heck is the other one (the one I can save up to buy the Angel Companion)?

Its been a little frustrating since OB hit.
Because i couldnt get ingame and meet up with friends to found our guild.
Besides that this game feels and acts right, so i will prorably endup staying here for alot off time.
