If I had to guess, it might be because empty or semi-empty forum sections make a game or community look dead even if it isn't. The message traffic here has been solid, but not so high that topics would quickly get pushed off the first couple pages. If you spread this over too many forum areas, it may look too thin.
That's probably true, but there are 5 classes right now, so I guess that they wouldn't appear empty, especially right now after release. In the class section we have right now, you can't really find interesting threads for your chosen class because it's just a mess.
I really hope they bring back the class forums asap.

That comment was in reference to a post which quoted me saying:
You might want to consider that there are only a few now...
But I really don't think we need 30 sub-forums in a few years from now.
Yeah, there's five now. There won't be five for long. And I really don't want to scroll through a sub-forum for every single class when they get more numerous...
And yes...dead forums are bad no matter how you cut it.
That's my guess as to why they removed the class forums to begin with.

They really aren't as long as they contain valid and useful information related to their topic. Forums aren't livechat, class subforums would be about information and strategy related to the classes, a handful of posts per day would be fine. Honestly anything more than that would likely be spam or people reposting the same things over and over (IE whine/nerf threads).
People don't look at the tiniest sub-forum to determine if forums overall are dead or not, they look at the largest section. Having 5 sections with 40 threads each compared to one with 200 is not going to make any difference in how people view the game's population, especially when right above it is a section with 3000 threads.
Be nice to have some communication from the people who actually have the say in how this is done. They might have a very valid reason why the class forums were taken away and it might be a temporary situation. Or it might be a perma situation that will really miff people off who like to be able to go find things about their class easily.
I was sad to see the class specific forums dissappear. I don't like having to sift through pages of unrelated content to find class specific information.

When you think about it, the only lasting value to forums are the class sections and guides, if they have a separate section. General sections are interesting at the start of the game when you're starving for tidbits of info, but class is the heart of the forum.
Also, I think the forum headers should be by individual class. On the old forum, "The Barracks" covered GF and GWF. My interest was GF. With GWF being more popular, it was very difficult to locate threads of interest to me. So maybe role first and then sub-sections by class.

This is 2013. An official forum without class forums? I don't even....
