I always play healers in MMOs and as such I very frequently experience the frustration that comes with soloing PVE content with healing builds. In SWTOR I could happily play PVE content solo with healing builds, just had to invest in a good tank companion.
I have had limited time to play the beta weekends, and I tried not to play at all. Playing betas in MMOs takes the shiny off for me, so I know very very little of the actual mechanics of play as a healer.
My question is: can I choose really good healing abilities/traits/feats for grouped content and still play solo PVE content without huge amounts of frustration? I don't mind playing it slowly, I just don't like feeling as if I am crawling.
I have bought the Guardian pack so I will apparently get a good companion, but can I heal that companion sufficiently in solo PVE to make it viable? Must I save up and invest in a really good tank companion instead?

Damage should be pretty good still. Not sure about the viability of dps pets though. I think tank or buffing one would suit you best for solo (buffing is best for group play as well)
