Maelstrom of chaos. How does it hold up?

TBH, I have tried it only in this bw4, and just briefly.

And I have to say that I like it... in theory.

In practice, it is just not dependable like singularity, and usually you loose the effect for being interrupted (thus loosing half your action points in the process).

All in all, it does not effect a large enough area around you to be effective when used properly. The combo of tab-chill strike and arcane singularity is far more dependable, and looks to be higher dmging, especially in the higher end dungeons like Spellplague dungeon. I almost beat rogues in dmg!

All in all, I feel it is a cool idea, but that it needs a larger area of effect around the caster. Something like double to triple. Either that, or make it an encounter (I know it is dictated by the DnD rules, but still).

Anyone use it to great effect? Please share.

i don't like maelstrom of chaos either tbh, i always seem to get more for my AP from singularity. not just in terms of damage but maelstrom just affects an area too small to make it really appealing, it's so slow to cast and doesn't have any particularly significative control effects...

i didn't try it with the related feats to build chill and arcane mastery however.

The trick to it is that you'll knock enemies near you to the targeted area and then deal damage in the targeted area. I replaced Ice Knife with MoC as my second Daily and have yet to regret it. It's useful when soloing smaller packs. For larger groups and team content you'll probably still be using Arcane Singularity.

It's a situational daily, but one that does have its place.

Since this is already a thread for Maelstrom of Chaos: I might be wrong, but can this daily actually electrify / stun CC immune targets? I ask because I think I stunned a GWF even though he was in berserker mode. Any data on that?

So this really knocks back during the cast animation? Because when I cast the enemies (non CC immune) near me keep happily attacking. I would like to hear other experiences.
