Left Control (Auto Lock on)

So, Ive been trying to figure this out for awhile now. Left Control while in game does an auto lockon to targets near you. That's good and all, but there does not appear to be a way to change the keybind. I've looked through the keymapping and nothing is currently on "left control"

Any suggestions here? Is it possible to change it?

I'm sure it could be changed if we knew the exact command it was tied to. We're able to apply keybinds via slash commands.
Open the Launcher. Click Options near the top. Check Disable on-demand patching. This will download another couple of gigs.

Yeah, that's the problem. I don't know what command it's tied to or what it's called. I just know it's left control but it doesn't display left control as a bind of anykind in keybindings.. very annoying.

Wow.. Okay so for those wondering. I removed every single keybind in the game. I'm talking about EVERYTHING aside from Left click, right click and left alt so I could still get into the settings.

No keybinds what so ever.. yet left control STILL auto targets and locks onto the target. So very very VERY annoying. This needs to change imho. Maybe some PW staff could comment on this and perhaps shed some light on why this is the way it is.

Sadly, I've been using left control for ventrilo/mumble for years now and It's not really something I can deal with if you know what I mean. It's like when I play FPS games.. if I can't bind crouch to left alt.. I probably wont play it. And as it stands now, this makes the game almost unplayable for me since I use Left Control for mumble.. sure I could change it. But that would just be kinda stupid.. everything else in the game is bindable but this? Makes no sense.

I'd like to know this too. If you find out, let me know. =)

Thanks for that! I read it once - will have to read it again. It seems somewhat complicated or maybe I'm just making it that way, but definitely a work-around for a simple feature that should be in game.

This hardcoded keybind also makes it unusable for those who play with keybinds based on arrow keys, instead of wsad. Because it does not seem to play well together with the special keys above the arrows.

I sent a bug report of this in-game. Very annoying if you can't disable it!

I really would like to use it (as a priest, it can get very hectic to grab your target in PVP for channeling Soothing Light), but holding CTRL down with your pinky whilst doing other things (moving, using other skills, ..) gets extremely uncomfortable. Would love to be able to rebound it to my mouse.

It is very simple. Download the AHK program. When you run it, it will create a sample file.ahk

You can either clear that template and add the one line you need, then save as 'alt remap.ahk' or something.

Before you play, doubleclick that AHK file and the script will start running (place next to launcher)

    LAlt::X

^ Above is the only line you need. Whatever you put after the :: is what LAlt remaps to.

Right click the H icon in the taskbar to pause or exit AHK when you do not want the remapping on.

Yeah, this is insanely stupid. I shouldn't have to download a 3rd party program just so I can remap their terrible keymapping. Completely and utterly stupid.

I am not a programmer, of any sort, other than some simple things, but i can figure out the most complicated stuff if i can look at it. but that isnt the point. You have to use the controls as if your hands were sober.

I have zero code exp either. The AHK community is very helpful though. One can setup some pretty amazing stuff with the app.

Just a realist ... and this may get looked at months down the road, but I would like people to be able to juryrig their own solutions in the meantime :)

I don't think it would be to much to ask for a quick response to the issue we're having. If it's going to be changed or even a to bad you're boned statement.

Really? I bound powers to Delete and End and had no problem. I think I briefly had stuff bound to all of the other keys above the arrows as well, while I was still trying to figure out what keybind layout I wanted to use.

I had the 3 encounter powers bound to the top row of the special keys above the arrows: insert, pos1/home and page up. When holding Ctrl and pressing any of those, there would only be a odd generic error message in chat. I can't recall the exact wording, maybe something about some function not bound or so. I did not put in a bug during beta, because I had no idea how it was supposed to work at all.

Ahh okay, I did not try binding anything to CTRL+ and those keys. They all did seem to work okay for power execution though.

Edit: Err, I may have misunderstood what you meant. I don't ever execute powers (in Neverwinter) while holding down CTRL, so maybe that's why it worked for me.

This is not normally my department, but I happen to know we have a bug report for this issue. It's marked post-launch, though, I which I think means it might get into the first post-launch patch. I'm not completely sure.

Any update on this? I've found this issue to be extremely frustrating, either I have to wait to talk in Mumble or I talk and circle someone or a NPC.

When can we expect this to be resolved?

Thanks for your time, any additional input would be appreciated.
