PVE vs PVP ..why not use both?

Managed to get into beta 3 weekend in the last minute and didn't quite get to experience everything so please correct me if I'm wrong.
Are there special armors for pvp with resilience or expertize like in wow or swtor? Dear God , I hope not. I'm gettng tired of farming one type of armor that it is isn't good for pve or viceversa.
I would very much like to not have a res type stat in pvp , so that I can use my gear for pvp and the other way around.
Another thing would be the time of death...Hope they don't change it because I don't like getting 1 shot..That's not skill people, it's lazy **** gameplay.
Third concern it's the fact that there's only one class to tank and one to heal....Need more healing and tank classes just for balance, both pvp & pve.
4th - balance the actual classes. E.g GWF kinda sucks right now(no stun, slow or somekind of last stand to hang a little longer)

There are special armors (and other things like mounts) that you can buy with glory from PvP.
    A res type stat?
The healer class is PvP is absolutely worthless right now. Clerics have never been able to heal as much damage as other players deal damage. The recent -50% nerf to self heals have made clerics an even less viable option in PvP. Any group in PvP is better off replacing the cleric with another DPS class and using potions, because Cleric heals aren't enough in PvP anyways (all the damage is burst/spike dmg that pots can cover, clerics are only good for HoTs in this game) and Cleric DPS/Control doesn't measure up to other classes either.

I don't know how they're gonna balance that.

The GWF is actually pretty tanky and their sprint ability is hella useful in PvP.

I don't think clerics are that bad....I like the fact that it is a hybrid.......I never enjoyed a healer just sitting in the back and heal(too boring for me). I also forgot to mention the fact that there aren't many pvp battlegrounds and that so far, all of them are just plain domination :|...need more originality.

As much as I wanted to try out PvP'ing, I strayed away from it. Like most f2p games I tend to stay away from. PWE being the worst money grab type company. Nay say all you want, but this game PvP is going to be for Wallet Warriors anyways. In reality if you need to see what/how PWE runs their cash shops, check out any of their other games. Very, very, P2W. So really, I wouldn't worry bout PvP, use GW2 or something a long the lines to fill that hole.

As for classes and such, there is a wide variety of classes they can pull from. Druid, is one I hope to see very soon. Although I know for each class their will be a hefty purchase price along with new races and such. Wish more games followed POE's Cash Shop. All fluff, no respec potions, no exp potions, nothing but fluff. (not that I think Exp potions are p2w, besides you level up stupidly fast anyways I can't understand why people would use them. 3 Days later, hit end game to find there is nothing there. Oh well, bound to happen)

My only hope regarding PvP is that changes made to balance it aren't made at the expense of PvE. GWF works quite well in PvE, with its AoE focus. I hope that is not lost just because AoE is much less useful in PvP.

I agree with quorforged completely. I don't want to see ANY decision made specifically for PvP that affects PvE game balance.

This is a PvE game. In a single PvE world. PvP is a side dish here. Its not a 50/50 PvP/PvE game. The community is nowhere near 50/50.

I believe Cryptic should go with what they have now and stop further coding of PvP material for the time being.. they have plenty of work to do to finish PvE content, classes, powers, guild features. These are the real reasons most of us are here.

    Hello All,

I personally don't like PvP, just never got into it. And as much as I hate doing it in another games' forum I would like to give my experience with one called Ai*n. That is a very heavy PvP to the extent that I had to stop playing it as I got tired of just logging in and getting killed while I was essence tapping.

For those who haven't heard about this game ( Hard To Believe ) there are 2 factions, A & E and there is no choice in the matter, when there are people around from the other side they fight. The only bad thing to this is that if you like to come on and just run around with a group of friends/PUGS and quest, you do so at your own risk because the way this PvP is set up, there are points you can get and/or quest completions for fighting the other side. Now in thought this is the game mechanic and makes sense, but what has happened is that you get all these uber players from ages played or people that got themselves so geared that you could literally pound on them and hardly make a dent in their HP, then they glair at you and your dead. I have even had what I call " Faction Farmers " that have killed me while I was resting at a shrine.

Ok, Ok... you got me, you win...Now leave me alone. But alas when I come back from my last spawn point to the area I have to be in , because I am a quest driven person low and behold who is there waiting for me but the same " Faction farmer " and BANG!!! I'm dead again....... And what is their defense.... Well that's the way the game is.... True to some extent .. but I don't think the Devs ment for you to stand there and keep killing the same person several times over just so you can get your points you need for other gear.

They do it because they " Farm " lowbie toons because they don't have the balls to challenge someone of their own level, and there is no risk at losing their " Faction Points " Thus they pick on the little Guy/Lowbie toons.

So enough of that ramble.... If there is going to be a PvP in this game then do it as an " World Alert " and those who wish to take part, port them to a whole other server, That way those people who just like to come on and Quest won't be subject to constant harassment from people who just have to assert their uberness.

I won't say I will never take part in a PvP setup but I want it to be my choice and not based on the Game Mechanic.

    Cheers! All

Don't worry; PvP in Neverwinter is just separate arena stuff that you'd have to actively seek out. There's no open world PvP. It's primarily a PvE game.

Although I'm not a fan of PvP, I feel the PvP from Guild Wars 2 was pretty well done. It was a separate area where everyone was set to max level, with all skills unlocked. You were forced to use standard issue weapons with enchants of your choice (just not your personal pve gear) so everyone had access to the same stuff. What's more, it was all free. You just couldn't take it outside the PvP area.

Basically, PvE gear and PvP gear were kept separate, and your skills/levels were set to the absolute max for best effect.

Personally, pvp is the only thing it did in most mmo's. I did some pve and ended in waiting an hour or 2 just to gather a raid or a small group . And even then someone had to go to the bathroom, someone had to eat or smoke right now.or someone has stayed beyond their bedtime (and he was the tank :|) . I don't like pve that much (not trying to insult anyone) and all you get in the end is beating a computer algorithm. The point is that I want to do both but don't want to see different gears for them, or one side influencing the other's abilities or gameplay. GW2 isn't that great (i tried it)...in fact you die there more quickly than in wow :|..which is a shame since i had hopes for it.. They could put arenas one vs one, 3 vs 3 etc since there aren't healing classes to discriminate. And fix that near death system..let's face it little to no people want to ressurect you in battle( especially in pvp). Make it something like gw2 down state.
