Well, there goes the third beta weekend and i have to say I'm pretty saddened by the cleric and the changes that were made. I stopped doing dungeons for obvious reasons posted a zillion times here, but wanted to comment on our rivals, the cleric companion.
Anyone else think the companion is much better than the actual cleric class ?? I didn't think much of it the first couple of dungeons, but as I did more and more I was quite saddened to see how much healing the "tanks' were doing all because of their companions. When I am barely beating out the tanks for healing, I, and the rest of the group begin to wonder, why I am even in the group at all. With the agro fiasco, the cleric companions, healing 20% hps every 9 secs <I believe it is> are the prime healers in groups. Not the cleric class.
So why bother playing a cleric at all then? Just create a tank with cleric companion !!
I can't get a tank companion that does that much damage, why should there be a companion that heals for that much ? Pretty sad state when a companion outdoes the main class it's modeled after. Give the companion the same crappy heals we get !!! If the game launches per beta 3, there simply is no reason to group a cleric. Just run with cleric companions and pots. That's what my friends and I ended up doing. much better results.
Would be better to buff the Devoted Cleric heals. People still need to solo content (most people will be doing that) and won't have access to a real cleric. People are saying the problem with Cleric heals is the class isn't scaling correctly at higher levels. The cleric companion works because it's a simple equation (percentage heal). The heal is a 20% HoT on a 30 second cooldown btw (not every 9 seconds, I think you're thinking of how long the HoT lasts rather than how often it can be cast).
Bottom line is the devs simply screwed the pooch on the Cleric this BW3.

thanks for the clarification on the companion heals. I didn't use one much till the very end when I swapped to the cleric companion to try it out for myself. It was a fun, yet frustrating bet3 on my clerics

I ended up parking my poor Cleric in the character Select screen, after having got myself appropriately beaten up and bloodied - figured that was enough torture for the devs to datamine from here into the next week.
i dont think we need a better heal.
In fact, we have lot of good tools who provide tons of "small heal". Sacred flame+Astral seal, Forgemaster's Flame with divine power then choose between Healing Word / Sun Burst / Bastion of Health...
It's true that it's difficult to save the tank when he has 10% pv left, but we are pretty good for not letting him down to this 10%.
The only things we need is an huge aggro reduction.
And fot the op : Cleric + cleric companion = win !
Cleric has a good dps but cant heal himself, so, debind all your heal, put only DPS skills and let your compagnon do this job 0//

IMO, the simple reason of having to have a cleric companion, as a cleric, is the reason NOT to play a cleric. Might as well play another class using a cleric companion.
and I know they are tweaking this, but as it stands, u are killing the cleric class, and also killing every companion except the cleric.
game is running towards cookie cutter very quickly.

Exactly, and this will mean hardly anyone bothers leveling a Cleric, then the dungeons have to be run on pots alone. Which as a dev said, won't be enough at higher levels...frankly I suspect they're trying to push us all towards using that $15 health stone in the cash shop...but first will see what they do to fix the mess they created with this cleric nerf, then we'll know for sure what their intentions are (and I hope I'm wrong).
